Which Coach Would You NOT Want to be Coaching YOUR Kid?

Let's just say he spent a little too much time "celebrating" his early success. Lol, there weren't too many weekends I went out that I didn't see J.V.. I'm not sure if this is why he ended up in Saban's doghouse, but from what I heard, it played a factor (along w/ some fumbles). To his credit, he stayed on the team, excelled in special teams, and if I'm not mistaken, is on the practice squad w/ the Steelers.

This may be at least partly true, but he also screwed himself in the weight room.

He bulked up a little to add a little to his power game. Only problem is he added too much mass to be a speed back (slowed down a bit), but nowhere near enoug to be a power back. So basically he ended lighter and slower than Alley Broussard. Plus Joe Addai finally got healthy again. This bumped him down to 3rd on the depth chart.

75% of the SEC?!!?

Minus Miles and Richt, I agree with these though. I would also add Houston Nutt to that list.

I really liked Richt until the Florida-Georgia game. I don't like the celebration thing that he had his team do, don't know why, but it rubs me the wrong way.

Miles is on there because he's a scUMer :tongue2:

Let's see;

Charlie Weis; he has to have some redeeming values, but I just can't see past his arrogance, and the lack of anything to be arrogant about, except for world class ability in eating contests.

Spurrelous, like Weis it is always someone else's fault, c'mon there's not that much room under the bus.

Petrino, Saban; I might not mind my kid playing for them, but the kid would exhaust his eligibility chasing them around and having to sit out their transfer years.

rr; with his lack of class and scruples shown to his alma mater he is quickly moving up (or is it down) the list

Petey; he just reminds me of a used car salesman (albeit a damned fine one) and from a distance I just don't know how you could trust him, but I'm probably just being harsh.

The best coach in my mind is either Tressel Or Mark Richt.

I'll have to agree with this.

As far as NOT.....

Anyone who would be coaching scUm, Notre Lame, or Miami (FL)..
Weis
Anyone named Bowden
Fat Phil
Spurrier

I'm sure that if/when the time comes, I'll learn a lot more about whatever coaches are recruiting my kid and go from there.
I would imagine there are many stand-up guys in the MAC and smaller schools.

I'll just rule out the SEC and the Bowden family... I'm sure both have some really nice upstanding guys but can you tell which ones they are?

BTW...
The best phrase describing Coach Tressel is:
Mentor/Role Model: 35.7%
Well Respected: 64.3%
The best phrase describing Coach Miles is:
Well Respected: 25.0%
Assertive: 12.5%
Corrupt: 62.5%

OUCH!

What is corrupt about him? He left Okie State for LSU? That's an upgrade in jobs that most college coaches would jump at in a heartbeat. He didn't use the UM job as leverage, as evidenced by signing an extension for THE EXACT SAME dollar amount from his original contract. If you want to question his X's and O's ability, that's fine, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you want to mock his public speaking ability, go right ahead. But what has he done to be classified as "corrupt"?

That's not his description. That is from the site linked on the previous page where coaches are rated by their former players.

That's taken from a poll of his former players.

Richt's flagrant disregard for the rules, risking starting a brawl and in essence encouraging his team to taunt the opponent en masse has to be the most obvious bit of excess I have seen in a long time. Saban is a whore, Weiss a meglomaniac and you can't tell me Tuberville didn't coach that cheap ass block on Dorsey. Rich "I'm yours till something better comes along" Rodriguiz works the corner opposite Nick Saban.

John Shafor, Moeller grad who led the Nittany Lions to an NC had little positive to say about Joe Pa.

The one thing you have to keep in mind ( I can't believe I am going to defend Miles) is that we don't know which former players responded to the poll. Perhaps it is all his Okie St. players who were peeved that he left and they view that as corrupt. If the posting is from his LSU players that would be more troubling to me......

Until we know or have a bigger sample from LSU (as his tenure there grows) I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt....
