Fact of the matter is: Offense has eclipsed defense in so many cases. The passing game and tremendous athletes at quarterback, receiver, running back and the true skilled position the lines makes it difficult to play defense. I wonder how many shut-outs occurred in 2012 and how many will happen in 2013. Also the rules favor the offense. Add to this the defenseless offensive player rule, makes defenders wary.
Good offenses in many ways have made good to great defenses more of an exception rather than a rule. Ball control does not mean what it used to, and time of possession is not as valid as it used to be.
I hope this is germane to the topic.
Alabama - if that's who is standing at the end - is beatable. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean someone will actually beat them.
And yet, OSU is on pace to match the rushing production of Woody's best teams throughout the 70's this year.Woody, Bo and Rockne lose their fucking minds watching these basketball games on fake grass. Alex Karras just got up here and that's the first thing he started bitching about. Then, he tried the food. Paradise, my ass.
They were also more successful with a solid to weak offense then when the offense was good. Now there's plenty of room to dispute whether they had a strong defense in 06 & 07.Let us remember that, when Ohio State had a stifling defense and okay offense, they criticized Tresselball. Kansas State was supposedly better, due to their weekly shootouts. ?sesra aidem ,won oS
