They have not been made for the American market since 1997 because they don't meet US safety regulations (they lack passenger and side-impact airbags, I believe).buckeyesin07;2037837; said:LJB--why are the defenders so difficult to find? Is it simply an issue of limited production?
I have a friend who owns an A8, an R8, and a Porsche Panamera 4S. He says that the R8 blows away the A8 (which you would expect), but that the Panamera blows away the R8 (and his Panamera is not the turbo version). I have also talked with a number of Porsche/Audi mechanics and test drivers who agree that the Panamera far outperforms the R8. Granted, the R8 looks great, but if you ever do splurge, you should look at the Porsche.muffler dragon;2038161; said:My first car purchase was a '95 Mitsubishi 3000GT. Ever since then, I've purchased strictly Hyundais (past: Sonata, Santa Fe presently: Elantra and Accent). Don't have the money to splurge. If I did, then I'd be all over the Audi R8.
