Favorite Bond movie?

Of the classics my vote would have to go to Dr. No. If I had to pick a favorite I have to go with the newer ones of Goldeneye and The World is Not Enough, just because I believe they are better movies. I'm sure if you could go back in time 40 years, kidnap Sean Connery, and make him be Bond in the newer movies they would be wildly accepted as the best. Connery is the best Bond, but Brosnan is a close second IMO. They are very different, but both make a great Bond.
I can't wait to see Casino Royale. I don't know how good of a Bond Daniel Craig will be, but this sounds like it is going to be a good movie. It will be nice to see how Bond started out before he was really Bond. The only Bond book I've read is The Man with the Golden Gun, and it was 10x better than the crappy movie. Plus Eva Green is fucking hot.

edit- wow I wish I had read the thread before I said the new movies "would be wildly accepted as the best". I guess that should be IMHO. I loved The World is not Enough. You only live twice is another great classic. The Living Daylights was the first one I saw in the theater so it holds a special place for me.

I've wanted a marine fortress and an Aston Martin submarine car ever since, although I'm hard pressed to really pick an outright favorite because the Bond movies have partly melted into a single confused marathon of Bond to me. I voted for Thunderball, however.

I concentrated on wanting Barbara Bach after that one

I voted for Auric Goldfinger, but Thunderball, Scaramanga, and Spy were also good. On Her Majesty's Secret Service is an underrated one too.

I second the underappreciation for Her Majesty's Secret Service, and Diana Riggs (ah Mrs. Peel in The Avengers ) wasn't bad either.

Since no one has voted for it, I had to vote for "On Her Majesties Secret Service". Glad to see others enjoy that one as well. It would hands down be the best Bond movie if Connery was in it. I would rate the movies as following:

1a. OHMSS
1b. Thunderball
1c. From Russia With Love
2. Goldfinger
3. The Spy Who Loved Me

I cannot believe that people have voted for a Brosnan movie as the best Bond movie. He was a good Bond, but all of his movies sucked. "Goldeneye" was by far his best effort. They need to quit with all of the CGI shit!

It sounds like the new movie will have no CGI so you'll get your wish. IMO Tomorrow Never Dies was the worst of the Brosnan movies and it has 2 votes. License to Kill was the worst of all of them. Roger Moore is my least favorite Bond, he just seemed like too much of a stiff to fight like Bond has to.

Well... yeah... I mean... On the issue of rating the actors... its difficult because well... the movies have surpassed the original Books... but If you asked Fleming, I think he would say that the Goldeneye Brosnan was the most authentic. On the other hand, Fleming also loved the extras that Connery brought to the character... The book Bond, you see, didn't spend a lot of time going out of his way to be charming and smooth... Chicks just dug him... and that Bond was tough and business like-- and cruel and ruthless-- first and a ladies man second... So, my problem was that Moore tended to get that backwards... (Lazenby and Dalton jsut didn't get it, I don't think.. though... )

I haven't seen them all, but I went with Goldfinger for the memorable characters. Goldeneye is another favorite of mine - I agree with the sentiment that it's the only good Brosnan one.

Jsut wnated to not that I didn't vote for Goldfinger because its sort of like voting for Stairway to Heavan as your favorite Zeppelin song... you know.. Of Course its awesome...

As a side note: The next James Bond movie Casino Royale staring Daniel Craig as 007 is scheduled to premiere in theaters on 17 Nov 06.
