What is your exercise routine?

Yoga and some disc golf

Alright. Its come to my attention that approximately 4 billion Americans.play the disc golf these days.

What's the hook here?

I mean I had observed crowds playing at metro parks, etc, but that was pretty superficial observation. Over a couple months last fall, my kid had soccer practice next to a course and I would take the dog and walk him during practice (it wasn't worth going.home) and I was pretty mesmerized by the, lets say, very broad demographics getting in a round.

So, if anyone can verbalize why this is fun that would be cool. (Also, if you ever wondered why you local government dropped $ on such a thing, I bet its getting used)

Until last year, I had only played one time beforehand.
I have a friend who is passionate about playing, and he invited my son and me to play. Ever since then, it's taken off for us albeit not nearly as passionate still as my friend.
For us, it's a relatively economical way to get outside, walk, exert some effort, and just enjoy the outdoors. It can be as competitive or as a lax as you want it to be (which speaks to the broad demographics).

For financial reference, a starter pack of 3-4 discs is +/- $25. Pretty low cost entry point to see if you enjoy it or not.

Less likely to spill your beer than while playing 2nd base in softball?

Sure you can, its just really hard.
28 year old BKB had no problems eating shitty, not exercising, smoking, drinking and being in tip top shape.
50 year old BKB... not so much. Totally changed the way I eat - no more processed foods, for example, quit smoking, do yoga and some walking, and I'm able to maintain about 200lbs... down from 240 a little over a year ago. Still drink, but mostly wine and spirits these days. I'll have 4 Guinness during an Ohio State game - 1 a quarter - but I otherwise lay off the beer these days.

That's solid work. I don't know where you started but that is close to the pace that I was on earlier this year. I've kinda plateaued down 60 lbs. Typical day involves me getting lead around by my apple watch. I have a move goal of 850 calories as a minimum and generally strive for 1000 move calories. That gets me about 3000 total calories a day of burn. I generally do a 35 minute elliptical workout + three 12 minute sprints on a Matrix erg. That generally gets me about 600 calories of my 1000 and the extra 400 comes from either coaching or just moving around during the day.

All of the cardio has been good for dropping weight. Next goal is redistribution. Have to start putting the free weights to work this winter.

Keep up the great work. If you're anything like me... it is work. I really don't like to exercise for exercise sake.
Thanks for the compliment. It is solid work, but I really had let myself go. I was over 300, and at 6'1" with a very large frame I carried it well.

I'm still cruising at 55 pounds, no leveling off yet. I'm counting calories with Noom and that is driving all of my food choices. Really it isn't that difficult- knowing that I most likely was going to die if I stayed over three bills was all the motivation I needed. That and the desire to sleep with women.

Anyone play pickle ball? Seems to be the hot thing right now. I have a couple of buddies that play that want me to get in on it. They say it’s good exercise, but it doesn’t look like it. I played Tennis and Racquetball and those are.

28 year old BKB was probably a little optimistic about what "tip top" was.

40 year old AKAK realized that being a real smoker wasn't a path forward for long term survival/good quality of life outcomes. (I'm slow on the uptake for sure)

I mean, you can still drink beer, its just gonna cost you a lot more working out than yoga and step counting.

The scale isn't a meaningful measure to me of health, its more a limit/indicator on what I can do in the scheme of working out.

Old ladies play it. It’s not good exercise.

It’s closer to what Carlin said about tennis being ping pong but played on an elevated surface.
