Well, I'm back from AE, and I did the opposite and went with the more casual chromexcel leather cap toes that I posted above. They have to ship in my size, and I can pick them up later this week. Skyfall cosplay will have to wait until I splurge on some Crockett & Jones.

BTW, @sparcboxbuck. If you do make it in there, ask for Victor. He's a really good guy and will take good care of you.

The chromexcel leather (from Chicago's own Horween tannery) is pretty amazing. There's no break-in period at all; I went for about a two mile walk today in them. It, apparently, also doesn't require the maintenance and care of normal high end calf leather and takes on a rich patina with time and wear.

Also, wearing them out in the wild, they do look pretty boot like. I'd never wear them with a suit or wool pants. Pretty much just jeans and khakis/chinos. Compared to real dress shoes, they're kind of big and bulbous........not that the ladies haven't accused me of that before!

Still loyal to LLBean...mostly. Their quality isn't what it was back from visiting their only store 40+ years ago during vacations to Maine, but still solid for some stuff.

I picked up a Filson coat a few years back and really love it.

Been wearing Adidas Sambas since high school. So comfortable.

Acura is now my car of choice. Always buy used though.

Not a brand, but local butchers instead of buying meat from big grocery stores. It makes the world of difference.

You can buy prime cuts of meat, versus choice cuts from big box groceries. Also, if you like a thicker cut, they'll do it for you. Still loyal to Coca Cola, as I worked there two summers in college (Miami, O), and during grad school (tOSU). Actually prefer the taste better as well. LLBean is simply the best for me as well. Like their stuff, the XLT actually has the torso and sleeve length I need. Haven't been to their store yet, but would bet vcash that it'd be hard on the credit card. Adidas golf shoes, on my eighth pair (with one in the closet). Titleist Prov1 golf balls, with 'Go Buckeyes' and #18 (for daughter's water polo number), as well. Prefer Marachelle Tempranillo, and Zenada 'Knucklehead' Petite Sarah (both local wineries - to me at least). Any malolactic Chardonnay. Have a Happy New Year, and Go Bucks! Outdab the Dab!

I think I finally got the oxblood Park Avenues where I want them last night. Put a shine on the caps with a combo of wax polish and leftover Champagne from NYE--something about the acid in the Champagne smoothing out the wax through the friction heat of the polishing cloth. Now, I just need COVID to go away, so I can go down to The Drake and get drunk in them.

I bought these last Fall too. Casual, rubber soles and lightweight since they're made with kid leather instead of calf. AE was discontinuing them, so $425 became $127. Best deal that I've ever had from them.
