Yeah I know and I'd probably be blown away to see the real speed difference vs. the new generation Samsung's, but I've talked myself into this idea that I'll wait for the 'killer app' to come down the pike that will make this S5 obsolete, like holograms or some shit like that.

It hasn't happened yet. In fact, I've deleted more shit (like FB) off the phone than I've added from when I got it.

Also, to keep it real, I no longer 'need' an ass-kicker of a phone, I'm much more in front of a PC these days, so....

Can't argue with that. If mine didn't eat batteries like my ex ate M&M's I'd still be using it.

Passed Year 4 on an S7 in October. Phones are like computers in the mid 2000's. The law of marginal rate of return has kicked in, and you don't need to constantly be upgrading. Me? I'm saving my money for a proper shinebox.

I've never been a boot guy, but I'm thinking about it. Any suggestions? While I doubt I'd ever wear them with a suit, I'd like something a little more dressy than pure work boots. I was thinking either:

Pure dressy: Brogues not Oxfords, but they still have a weatherproof storm welt and rubber Dainite sole.

Less dressy: Chromexcel leather, rubber Dainite sole.

Funny thing, boots and Allen Edmunds discussions and whatnot. Just picked up a couple of new pairs this last weekend because no game was preventing me from spending money.

Got a pair of these which are far less dressy than what you’re looking at. The wife has been bugging me to get some boots for a while. There’s a lot of dress-style boots at AE right now and some steep sales to boot... as it were. I figure if I’m going to wear something that dressy, the last thing I want is it in a boot.

Agreed. I don’t get downtown much but the store on Michigan is super close to the office I would go to if I ever worked downtown. That said, the Oakbrook store is way easier to get to from out here. The salesman at the Oakbrook store was awesome. He spent a ton of time with my oldest while he was picking out some new shoes. Solid product and great service is hard to beat.

My Samsung plasma is still running strong after 14 years.

Won't argue there. I bought a 65" Samsung 4K Ultra UHD about 1 1/2 years ago and I love it. I have two other smaller 4Ks in the bedroom and the "man cave" that are cheaper brands and there is absolutely no comparison in the picture quality. Best looking TV I've ever owned. Only complaint would be they seem to put all their effort into picture quality and skimp on sound because it's terrible, but I have a theater system connected anyways so it doesn't matter. I'm guessing that like most manufacturers, they assume people will hook up some kind of sound bar or theater system so sound isn't a top priority.

Agree on the sound but most flat screen TV’s have sound quality issues from what I have experienced.

Same here. I have an S7 that I've had for 3+ years that hasn't given me any trouble and I see no reason to replace it now. It does what I want it too and when I want it too.

As long as the boots don't have Oxford lacing, which just looks weird to me on a boot, I think they can be dressed down pretty easily. I don't have any desire to wear boots with a suit, and I hate Chelsea boots. I'm leaning to the pair that I posted on top. They're a pretty close approximation to the Crockett & Jones from Skyfall

but--with the current Allen Edmonds sale--cost less than half as much.
