NCAA 2010, almost exclusively... tight budget, and I usually wait half a year for the new game list to pile up before spending a month on a rental plan.

I always try out the new demos on XBL Marketplace. Darkest of Days is a great concept but implemented poorly. Some of the textures and graphics look like a last-generation game. The concept is you pass through time, fighting famous battles like Antietam or even as far back as the roman empire. Now it might have become absurd after awhile (particularly since you can use automatic weapons and missile strikes against these primitive warriors), but the battle of antietam would make a fun game if done by the Call of Duty series.

If you have xbox live and ~$10 to spare you should check out the game Trials HD. It's a motorcycle type game is an awesome time waster! There is a demo out as well that you can try. Here's a video.
When I first tried this, I thought it was like a thousand flash games before it (side scrollers), just with fancier graphics. The more I played it, the more I found out about the depth of gameplay options.

It certainly captures the arcade-ish fun that gets lost in many of today's highly strategic and/or realistic games. I think if it goes on sale for $5 at some point, I'll pick it up.
