West Virginia 66, Connecticut 21 (final)

The voters ... should come away questioning whether a team that plays in this conference of worthy of possibly being crowned national champion.
Memphis plays hoop in an absolutely awful conference, but they have a legit shot at the NC. Conference affiliation means jack squat; the 'Eers are for real.

Dude, they won by 46 points. That is flat impressive, regardless of the opponent.
Dude , my comment was made when Uconn was only down by Ten. The whole world now knows that Uconn truly is weak , and that WVu piled it on for the votes and the Heisman. If this had been the Bucks Jt would have won by 10 or 17.

In a perfect world, the Eers running it up would backfire on them. WV is a very good team, but this blowout (in my opinion) only serves to show how weak the Big East really is.

UConn is your second best team ?

Wow, just wow

Haven't you read the WVU boards. We won't stay within four touchdowns of them. Some are even saying that we don't deserve to even be in the game with mighty West--Godforsaken--Virginia.

Wow, a program that has never won a national championship, has never had a Heisman Trophy winner and hasn't beaten Ohio State since the 1800s has such arrogance.

Then I assume your #1 is hawaii?
Roses are red. Ergo, elephants must be green.

A --> B ???????

I agree that 'Eer fans are going way overboard, and I agree that the Big Least is a weak conference. But that doesn't mean that WVU is not an excellent football team. They are, and it would take a fine game by the Buckeyes to win against them. (This also, before you blast me again, doesn't mean I'd rate the Buckeyes as an underdog against the Mountaineers.)

I wasn't blasting you, I just thought if someone is convinced conference affiliation really does mean nothing then that person has to have Hawaii as his #1.

I would agree that WVU's offense is legit, the rest of the team not so much.

I dont think we ran the score up....we had our 4th string RB in there, hell, even the backup kicker....all we did was run the ball (which we always do actually)...

There were 3 buckeye fans behind me, around college aged guys like me.....they were kinda mouthy at first, but then turned out to be pretty cool guys....they were impressed....

I think Mili showed some wisdom. We did not do well against Illinois and a quarterback who looked a lot like WVa. I guess the question is, provided that we are fortunate and get into the NC game, will our D have learned from that experience enough to overcome the weaknesses we had? Certainly, our egos won't be getting in the way. There also is some question about our offense, which has not been very productive in the last two games.

On the other side of that hypothetical game, I believe that West Virginia is a good team. How good is the question. UConn mailed it in after the first drive of the second half, so yesterday is no indication.

It didn't look to me like they would be very happy about facing either of our lines. Provided that whatever happened to Todd will be overcome by then and the offense was clicking, then I think we could beat WVa with a good ball-control game plan and some big plays: Woody-ball.

Speed don't score without the ball. Speed ain't unknown in Columbus.

There is no doubt we have our work cut out for us, especially since White is a better Qb than Juice ,IMO, . We can only hope that the coaches and players do whatever is necessary to defend against their offense. If they don't we would be in for another long day.
So in the end we can only trust our team to perform as we know they are capable of.

I think that Honor&Glory said it best on how to beat W.Va's spread.

Hit the QB - every play, and wreak havoc in their backfield.

I'd add that if it comes down to WVU in the final game then the 3-3-5 should be deprecated - it being West Virginia's base defense, Heacock might prefer to go with something closer to the Buckeyes core strengths.

You know, it's amazing how little time the defense spent in the backfield in the WVa and Missouri games yesterday. I like the Silver Bullets to wreak some havoc there.
