Well, what's your thoughts on Barbaro?

It's amazing how big this story about a worthless horse is in the news. Who cares? I find it funny that nobody cares about the treatment of these horses before they race during training But, one gets injured during a big race...STOP THE PRESSES!

Some idiot in USATODAY who is on the training staff compared the suddennesss of the injury to Katrina. Uh, yeah, a tragedy invovling 1000 people dying is similar to a stupid horse getting injured. :roll1:

Here's hoping he dies a quick and painless death. He'll be better for it.

:slappy:

BTW, like the new tagline by your avatar!

Well, one thing not right in that post is..."worthless horse"...at least in terms of value. This horse will be worth literally millions in stud fees...hence the reason they are going to such lengths to save it. Were this a typical horse, or even a lower end race horse, I imagine they would have put it down on the spot.

I've noticed that the word 'horrific' was hardly ever used before 9/11. But now that so many people are familiar with the word, it's fairly sad that it's now used to describe injuries to race horses.

It's been downgraded in meaning through overuse, just like 'terrible' and 'tragedy'. But I'm not ready to wish death on those who use the word inappropriately.

But wishing death on those who wish death on others inappropriately....... :wink2:

yeah, lets put the horse through more additional pain just so we can make money of him. :roll1:

We don't put humans to sleep when they shatter their legs,or even our pets such as cats & dogs. My horse surrvived his bump in the road with a tiny fracture compared to this horse. There were complications with him & some said they would have not done it,but I did & the calculated risk paid off & he went on to be a highly successful show horse.
Another thing to consider some of these insurance companies state that you must try to save the horse due to surgery being cheaper than paying out on the horses life policy which may have some high stakes in this horses policy,I assure you on that one.
I had to agree to surgery on Sonny in 2003 when he had a colon displacement, but ever had to go under for the surgery & my friends horse underwent colic surgery at Ohio State & later determined he was better off being euthanized after surgery when he was having extreme difficulty. An autopsy was performed & he had a tear in his bowel, then the insurance company was happy & paid her the $10,000 she had him insured for.
She would rather have the horse, trust me! He just always had a bad belly.

Yea, this horse is really going to have a miserable life. All he will do every day is eat, sleep, and screw female horses. Shame on his owner for putting him through all that!!!

(In addition, I'm sure he will get the appropriate medication (as needed) to eliminate and/or minimize any pain.)
