Weis's Play Calling in the ND BYU game

I don't want understand Weiss' accomplishments so far this year - they are good, but I don't want to overstate them either.

How will he do during recruting season?
I cannot answer the rest, but as for recruiting, have zero doubt, those flashy Super Bowl rings don't hurt.

I'm not going to cut and paste the full list, here it is.
Have no doubt - he is getting a well stacked class for 2006 ball.
1 - 5*, 6-4*, 10- 3*, couple of 2* recruits - they are effectively done recruiting.

No offense, but just looking at those numbers, that is not too impressive. On just numbers, that is probably ranked between 15-20.... nothing to write home about.

He's done a great job with very good offensive talent already there!

Now as for that defense! A lot less talent on defense and it shows!

Didn't Willingham have a great first year!

The real test will come in the following two, three years!

USC is always on ND's schedule, even throughout the '90s when USC sucked ass, so it's no big thing that USC is on ND's schedule now. The fact remains, and always will remain, that OSU offered ND to play in 2000 and 2001 and ND refused.

Fact is that ND is still scheduling the 28 in a row 2 time NC Trojans! So your point means nothing.

Also instead of scheduling OSU, ND instead went out and continued to schedule a Michigan team that owned OSU in the 90's.....

I'm surprised at how well they're playing, but I'm in no way surprised at how good their playcalling is.

That's what happens when you get the best Offensive Coordinator in both the pros and college calling plays for you.

Quinn's level of improvement this year is phenominal. He is from my hometown of Dublin and a close family friend. I know we were all bitter when he decided to go to ND over Ohio State, but for his sake it was the right choice. At OSU, he would be underutilized and may not even start.

It is wild to think what an ex-NFL offensive cooridinator can do for a qb and a program. Honestly, ND could play and beat anyone in the country. I would love to see that type of offensive creativity in Columubs. I think the players in ND just believe in Weiss and I do not see that sort of confidence when our offense steps on the field.

brady in no way shape or form was headed to ohio state, the reality is his family is from ill. and was headed to und from a his childhood.

the reality is quinn's season last year wasnt all that bad, just shy of 2600 yds 17 tds and 10 ints. he had over 7 yards an attempt, but was sacked a lot 25 times. all this with 54% completion.

First, NDChief, I watched Texas shut down an offense comparable to Notre Dame yesterday and I have seen your defense. Texas is not going to be your game anyway, but if it was, not likely to be a Notre Dame win.

Second, we should not underestimate the steps that Weis is taking to position himself in the same area where Tressel positions himself. "Using the play called by the kid", "refs did as well as they could against USC", "we didn't deserve to win"...he's going after that God, Apple Pie and Mother Nature place that moves middle America. The difference between him and Tressel is that he will never have to go through what Tressel did with the Clarett thing because the press would never allow it.

So, expect him to compete strongly for talent in Ohio and realize that the talent game has just gone up a notch.

The thing that will threaten this is his ability to get along with University officials. There already talk around academica about friction with academic leadership at Notre Dame concerning his pay and his assistant coaches pay. That's another reason for the positioning he's taken.

I think we need to take him seriously, but I still think Ohio State would beat Notre Dame.
