Week 5 Games Discussion

My helmet was plastic with pads by the ears and elastic straps on top of the head, basically just for fitting purposes. It didn't take much to get your bell rung.

I damn sure wasn't lowering my head to hit with that thing. The only person I was going to hurt was me.
I played in the 70s so it’s been awhile. I recall we were taught see what you hit and shoulder to upper legs and wrap.

I didn’t see the Illinois bs Wiscoygame, but good for Bert! Had to feel good going back there and knocking them off. Saw a few minutes of the end interview with wife and Kids. Wife looks good for such a schlup!

I played in the 90s was taught see what you hit, facemask not crown and head across the bow.

It seems that disappeared at some point between then and now. But I agree with what, I think, you said - practice. We practiced like we played - full tackling. These days they don't do much hitting in practice, so how are guys going to learn how to do it properly?
