Wearing jerseys to games: yes or no?

Should grown men (out of college) wear team jerseys?

  • Why not? It's perfectly normal game attire.

I have the same #45 Jersey that i've worn since 1997. I got it because I liked Katzenmoyer and also knew it was Archie's number so it would be a good number to have when Andy left. I've worn it to every game since I got it. I always wear the exact same thing. Two undershirts, one black and one red...and the jersey. Same jeans, same shoes, same socks, same boxers. The only thing I will add, is if it's cold, I have an OSU hoodie that i'll put on under the jersey. If it's dorky, I don't care. It's tradition.

Are you homosexual, Thump? It is a serious question. You throw out terms like "homo" and "fag" in almost every post i've seen. I'm not going to lie, I use the words sometimes, as much as I wish I didn't. But it seems like you go out of yoru way to do it, and it's getting old.

I'm not a fan of wearing jerseys at all. A lot of my friends wear them.

Seems a little faggish to me.
So you are saying a lot of your friends are a little faggish -

does anyone know where to get an AUTHENTIC personalized jersey? I've never seen one that will personalize the number and the name on the back, all tackle-twill (game worn-type quality).
there is a site where you can get authentic jerseys, numbers and names allready on them. it aint cheap, but you could find the number you want, then get your own nameplate on the back. www.collegejersey.com

most dont even have a name on back

I don't really see a problem with it. Then again, maybe that's b/c I wear one to all the games. I think it's just another way to support the team, so as far as I'm concerned, the more people wearing them at any particular game, the better.

I wear my Scarlet 7 on home dates, and my White 8 on away dates.... and not just to the games.... yes, I'm 35. So? Call me a dork, a homo, or whatever, I'm still gonna be wearing my jerseys on game day.

"Dork, homo, whatever."

I wear a jersey on gameday too. Something I've done as a kid and I guess I never grew up. I have a personalized scarlet jersey (can't find a personalized white one) that I wear every Saturday. I have the build for it, too Sushi.
Even if I had Dunlop's Disease I'd still sport it like a champ.

OK, as a 21 year old, I find it weird to buy the jersey of someone who's younger than me. I think a part of it is that no one really wants to give up their youth, when we all thought we would be professional athletes. I felt the same way when the first MLB player younger than me debuted.

That said, I am a fan of jerseys of retired/current players. Find me Saturday in my Carter Pro Bowl throwback, or maybe later in the year in the Brockington. Or my Newsome when I get to another Browns game. I would rather go without a jersey than buy one that isn't authentic.

I know that Mitchell and Ness deals with retired players from one sport individually, not the player's union (don't recall which sport). If it is the old NFL guys that do that, Lavelli, Carter, Brockington, Pepper Johnson, and others are all getting a cut.

EDIT: One more thing. The jerseys are a little big, as the website I got them from (at a good discount) only had 52 on up, and I lost a little weight to boot. Anyone know how to shrink nylon?

People should wear whatever they like. Personally, I'd feel a bit weird wearing the jersey of a current Buckeye at age 39. But I'd probably feel better wearing a #45 or a Chic Harley. (What was his number again?)
