And let's change the rules after the end of the regular season, so the guy who pretty much has the thing sewn up now has to win 4 straight head-to-head matchups to win. And as bkb said, the assumption that "basically everybody" is in favor of a playoff is not true for either of the two folks you used in your first round example.

I'm all for a separate contest for the bowl season - that's what I'm doing for the Upset contest. There are then two winners, one for the season, one for the Bowls.

All you posted sounds very fair. I'm sure I'm not in the minority by saying you deserve to be the "champion" based on the season long tally, so lets do it as a "sidegame" and see how close the tournament comes to the regular season standings.

You can still be involved, dude. Just post your own thread about the given picks for the week amongst the contenders and then provide your own picks. THEN, the more "cerebral oriented" participant will look at your picks and move in the opposite direction.:beer:

As a sidenote,I probably should just keep my mouth shut, I think I'm gonna come in last place in the "challenge" this week. Also, how's your "sister" doing? :groove3:

Note: There will be another thread for the regular portion of this competition. This is a special side game. I will try to get the other thread out tomorrow.


I've decided to try a bowl tournament side-game. This is not for the overall winner of the competition. That is going to be decided by the full season standings after the bowls (see the other thread). This is like the bonus thing: a side game to give people who have been eliminated something to do.

What you need to do right now: Check the list below and let me know whether you would like to participate or not. If you don't want to play, please let me know anyway so I can get someone else in. This is potentially a 6-round tournament, so please keep that in mind. You will only be picking 2-3 categories per round, but it will go through the whole bowl season.

Eligibility:
1. The tournament will be seeded by the regular season rankings. The top 16 contestants are invited, and we will go down the list until we have 16 participants. If you miss the cut, you can still be an alternate in case someone flakes out.

2. An additional 8 players will be selected based on participation (# of weeks you played). There will be an alternate list as well.
