I was starting to think they had lost interest, but then they made me laugh once more:
@#%$ these s.o.b's for cheating and corrupting the minds of
the youth by paying their cellphone bills and paying them
to attend college there

@#%$ thad matta for brainwashing these kids with his
brainwashing currencys that he give to players that go there

@#%$ mike conley cause he is now part of the evil empire
and he was overrated anyways and he was good because of
greg oden

@#%$ greg oden for following conley don't you have a mind of your own you big duffus plus his game is overatted also he is merely a project he won't be great

last but not lease @#%$ daequan cook this is the @#%$ that
started the birth of the evil empire

that made me feel good

yeah it got posted... and ironically at the same time as they posted oden in a wake jersey.

Check in the wake flamers thread, you'll find the picture in there within the last few days... and it should link to where it was posted.

Ohio State AD anticipates more hoops sanctions

www.zanesvilletimesrecord...10313/1006

I am sure Skip has long-since moved on. Therefore, as a Wake fan, I have too.

But, even if Wake wasn't involved with these recruits, this is one weird story. Signing the nation's premier recruiting class AND expecting NCAA sanctions is just bizarre.

If you check the record books on the finalfour.net website, they still list Michigan's Final Four appearances and box scores. The NCAA can't take away a Final Four. Including that as a major punishment is saying that the transgressions were worse because they actually won with them. The NCAA should run as if OSU didn't win because of cheating and then take the banners, etc on top of that.

I stopped in our parking deck to talk to a guy who drives a Jeep with an OSU tire cover on the back. I have talked to him before about sports and wanted to congratulate him on their recruiting coup. He had no idea who Oden/Conley were. He asked if they were top football recruits. No, he was not joking around. I just smiled empathetically and drove off.

Even if OSU received some drastic penalty which caused MC and GO to rethink their choice (about .01% chance of that happening), not sure that they would choose WF even if Skip had available scholarships in the Fall. Those two had every reason to come to WF, and did not. WF is dead to them, and they are dead to us.

I hope Conley and Oden collect themselves and ultimately head for Indiana. I'd like to see them play in a clean program before adoring fans. They deserve better than a football school.

How funny would it be if we held out for the center that we wanted and it ended up being Oden. He never signs with OSU because of the sanctions and ends up committing to play here for one year. I feel bad for Conley and Oden now that the AD is coming out with this...wait...no I don't.

great quote by the osu AD:

Of course, this reminds me of my analogy on the premium boards that Conley/Oden is like Eliza Dushku being 50/50 for me vs. wakefan and throwing in fooling around with the French news chick for awhile. Well, I'd like to me the guy who would stick with his nice sweet petite girlfriend when Eliza comes back calling a few months later. Skip would give it some serious thought.

It would be impossible for any coach to turn down Greg Oden. So, if he comes knocking, Skip will let him in.

My point is that I just don't that these kids want to go to WF. I agree that if something caused them to rethink the OSU choice that it would be Indiana or MSU or some other Midwest school, but just don't see any scenario where they are choosing WF.

I think we all know something went on at OSU to get OC. Cook was unfortunately understandable. But, we must find solace in the fact that Skip will not stoop to the level of others. He will keep Wake a place we are all proud to have been a part of and that we are proud to continue to support.

Ohio State is massive. In addition, Columbus is a large city that treats OSU as its home town sports team. Even if only a fraction of OSU fans care about hoop, there is still plenty of people to fill their new arena. I agree that there are many reasons that WF would've been a better choice than OSU, but the football school versus the basketball school argument is not one of them.

Conley, and especially Oden, will get plenty of love and adulation on the OSU campus even if OSU is a football school.

Let me add that I don't think Matta did anything illegal to get OCC to come to OSU. Unethical or negative recruiting can be considered a matter of opinion but using my personal criteria of negative and what I know from what some recruits said, he did use some negative recruiting against Wake Forest IMO. Please do not EZ me because I can not and will not tell you what was said. This is the last time I will make any comment on Mike Conley, Greg Oden, or Ohio State because they matter not one bit to me anymore and it is time for all of us to move on and let their chips fall where they may.

Do you people realize that the NCAA could hand down a sanction as tough as they did with Baylor (mind you that is very unlikely) and it would never effect OSU during the time Oden and Conley play at OSU?

It is widely held that the worst that could happen to OSU is another post season ban this season, the loss of 1 or 2 scholarships (mind you for 1 year and taken over a few seasons), and the removal of banners from the arena. And that's worst case for OSU. None of that even effects Oden & company. Did anyone notice they just got another top 100 guy today (Chichester 6-8 210). OSU is clearly almost in the clear with the NCAA and coming out of it smelling like roses because they made a great hire in Matta. Good for them.

is questionable. The ONLY reason they are going to OSU instead of Wake is geography, which is exactly why Thaddeus Young, Vernon Macklin or any other big man from the south is not going to OSU. Your advantage is negated outside of the midwest.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's painfully obvious how new they are to the recruiting process... at least on a national scale for elite players. They don't even realize that geography is often a turnoff but not a roadblock to recruits.

Doesn't really match up well with their claims that they are an elite school... does it?

Upvote 0
Now that the reality has set in and the more intelligent posters are telling the teenagers to move on...

we are seeing many more posts admitting that Wake has stunk it up in the postseason, makes no adjustments on defense, are not as elite as was suggested the last few months, and that Matta + OSU is clearly an attractive combo.

Hey, Wake got their PG. A dude that weighs about 2 paper clips and is a 2 star guard. Sweeeeeeet!!! They act like he is the next coming of Magic Johnson.

All I can say is they actually accepted me on that board. I will not post. I shall not post for about two years. Then, when they are at their worst. Right after they can't get an NIT bid...I will throw a huge post about everything. Revenge is best served cold, and those sorry asses need to know their place.
Of course they will talk about how great an education Wake is. Kiss my ass. I make more than 99% of those assholes, and I went to Ohio State!
