Re: Greg Oden and Conley select OSU The Wake fans who represented their school so poorly on this board for so long have mostly disappeared. After they won their "National Championship" back in January, there were probably 50 Deacs fans on here posting and Lord knows how many more reading.

When they took the word of a 20 yr old Spiece hanger-on as gospel, they became even more obnoxious. Remember when Wake was a lock for Cook, Conley and Oden? That was around March.

Then some funny things happened. Their star player embarrassed the program and cost his team a chance at winning the ACC tournament. Then, despite this being "the year" Wake was going to change their NCAA Tournament fortune, they tapped out early in the tournament's weakest bracket. Then their star player bolted for the NBA, like everyone except Wake fans knew would happen. Now finally, names like Oden, Cook and Conly are being replaced with names like Shamain Dukes and L.D. Williams.

Same old Deacs? You bet. Smells better around here these days.

Their board has gone into a recursive loop on Oden & Conley & tOSU.

Poster 1 -- They're coming...

Poster 2 -- No they're not -- they're bound for those blackgaurd buckeyes

Poster 3 -- They're gone, Let it Go

Poster 4 -- venom and idiocy about the Buckeyes

Poster 3 -- Let it Go, They're gone

And so it goes on..

They never fail to amuse me... not only are they hilarious in claiming he's the best player in the nba (I forgot that the best bring their B game for multiple games in a row and sulk around b/c things aren't going well)... but also that they were the reason he was good. Yeah, I'm sure they'll feel the same way about Oden even if he stayed four years.

note: I have a ton of respect for Duncan and think he's very very good, but the WF flamers never fail to soil anything when they type away with their fingers...

has anyone seen the new K amex commercial? talking about leadership, and he mentions duncan, manu and parker. about duncan all he says is "tim duncan developed his quiet determination growing up in the virgin islands."
how bout you admit that the best player in the nba developed everything at WAKE FOREST?!

Let's let it go. Do something in the postseason and our recruiting will take care of itself.

Thank you. I am so sick of coming to the boards to find it full of threads about how Conley and Oden are making a bad decision. Get over it people. It almost as if some of you have some sense of entitlement to Conley because he listed us as his leader for a long time. Move on, please.

In threads not related to OSU, they readily admit their team has struggled with consistency in the postseason... and that Skip has stunk at coaching the defensive side of the game.

as we all know, sometimes it's tough to take off the black and gold glasses and turn the microscope in towards your own program...some of them over there seem to be turning the corner not only with respect to that, but also with respect to dealing with losing out on recruits who they once thought they had in the bag. fortunately, we have much more experience in this field (Buster, Fred D, McGlover, etc.)...so it isn't nearly as hard to deal with for us because we have been down that road before.

agreed, I don't mind the anger, bitterness or confusion over the whole deal, especially considering Oden's favorite player was Duncan and Conley loved Paul...

But many of them had a remarkable amount of dedication to spewing off venom about OSU.

There are plenty of quality posters over there, however the other type tend to chime in more often b/c their parents think they are up in their room doing homework.

Wow, now they are mocking Chris Paul incessently in the day of his draft... they really are one of the worst boards I've visited especially considering how elite and intelligent they think they are...

Something tells me that if Conley's cousin (and possibly Conley himself) thought about it long enough, they'd realize they would be getting cheered or jeered (both on and off the court) by many of these same people. I'm sure they chose OSU for the school, but I couldn't imagine wanting to be in a small school environment with tools like these.

take it from somebody who went to a small high school......small communities suck. If i had half a brain in my head my senior year of high school I would've used my Aunt's address and paid in state tuition to go to OSU. :smash:
