Vince Young (unemployed)

Sports talk radio, in Houston is begging for the Texans management to put together a trade package with Carr included to make a run at VY.

If the Texans are dumb enough to trade away Carr then they deserve all the losing they get.

Tom Brady would have looked like trade bait playing behind that line. If a team like the Ravens or Jets are smart enough to get Carr away from the Texans then kudos to them.

Trading away Carr would be a big mistake unless about 5 OL's are thrown into the trade.

No Brainer

Houston should trade their first pick and Carr to the Saints for their whole draft. Oh wait, Ditka isn't there anymore to make that trade. :p

Vince should go to the NFL because the only thing he needs to improve on is passing. That unfortunately does not usually happen day one for any rookie. Get Kubiak from the Broncos who will mentor him long term and keep Carr. If Vince shows he can pick up the program early there will always be a need for a QB during the year and get more in return. Just having Vince in Houston and Texas will sell the place out long term.

He should go for the following reasons:

1. His biggest weakness is his release point - he will not improve this with another year in college. He needs a pro staff to work with full time to become a better player. He will not become better in college - it's just too easy for his to take off running.

2. Stock will never be higher (see Leinart)

3. Rookie salary caps are coming - take the $ while its there.

4. Chance to stay close to home - I keep hearing NO (not far from Texas, and playing in SA currently), or the Texans trading up. Again, see Leinart (could hav gone to SF last year) - Vince will find himself a mid 1st round pick next year if things don't go perfectly, and will not be able the flavor of the NFL minute.

Now, selfish reasons:wink2:

5. The Bucks chances in Austin improve immensly if he leaves.

6. Donte & Ashton would be pushed back a slot (hey, every little bit to get them back, right?)

7. One less Heisman candidate to go up against TS, TGII (or maybe even Pitt!)

I figured Texans fans and media would be going nuts hoping to get VY. That would be similar to Lebron ending up in Cleveland.

That would be a ton of pressure on Vince if he did end up with the Texans, but I bet he wouldn't want it any other way.

I just can't imagine that it is in Vince Young's interest to stay. That NC game performance made him a top 5 pick. Period. He had game breaking performances against two of the top 4 teams and won the NC. What if the Buckeyes beat Texas at Austin and Troy Smith shines like he has the last two games?

No, if he is wise, he goes now.

1. Houston needs to draft Reggie Bush. Carr is a very good QB behind a line that could block a defense of functioning retards...which he did not have this year. Reggie Bush is a sure thing, a once in a generation player. VY has some questions about his mechanics still (not saying he won't be a stud).
2. VY is coming out. He made that pretty clear to me with the way he side-stepped John Saunders' question after the game last night.
3. Horns, who will be your QB next year if VY does indeed go?

personally I think this could be a very attractive package. Carr is not that bad of a QB, get him some talent around him and you've got a pretty solid QB at worst IMO.

The Texans would be stupid to trade Carr, and then pick up V. Young. Carr is a pretty capable QB (mobile, as well), and although Young has proved that he is a great quarterback, and looks like he has a great future ahead, hasn't proved anything; and with that terrible O-Line that they have, nothing is guaranteed. I fully expect the Texans to keep Carr, and draft Bush or a stud offensive lineman.

As for Vince Young, he should enter the draft because there is going to be a new signing bonus rule for rookies, effective as soon as the 2007 starts.

They were saying that if he enters the draft, he could very possibly end up in Tennessee (I'll keep my fingers crossed that he does) because of his relationship with Steve McNair, being a father figure and all. I'm guessing he could be drafted by the Saints, possibly. If so, Matt Leinart and Norm Chow could reunite in Nashville.

VYoung needs NFL coaching...

There's no doubt that Vince Young is a great college quarterback, but I don't think another year in the Texas offense will adequately prepare him for the NFL. He's a hybrid right now-- with Kordell Stewart legs and a Bernie Kosar sidearm sling. Rather than 25-35 yarders ropped to wide receivers in the championship game, I saw a lot of short passes to the tight end and a lot of tuck and runs. If he really wants to be an NFL quarterback, he needs to hone his passing skills through some full-time NFL coaching.
