Vince Young (unemployed)

Does anyone else on the "Planet" find it utterly ridiculous that black QB's are always compared to other black QB's? Not just here, but just about everywhere I look VY is compared to McNair, McNabb, Vick, Cunningham, Culpepper or Moon.

When I look at this kid, and PURELY as a QB and what that consists of, the player that I'm reminded of is John Elway. I'm not talking about arm strength, height, stride, or any of that. I'm talking about a guy's ability to beat you, and VY has as much ability to "beat you" as any QB in CFB that I've seen in a long time. Not just his arm or his legs set him apart, what sets him apart are his guts, grit, and incredible poise in pressure situations. Those attributes are what made Elway great, and VY seems to have them down to a "T"

That being said, go get rich in the NFL Vince. Let somebody else have a chance, because with you in CFB next year, nobody else will.
Wow, that was dead-on.

I think I just read a great post award reply from Woody!!!!!! I was thinking the same thing that he reminds me of John Elway. Can beat you so many differnt ways and is always in complete control. When he has the ball and the game is on the line you almost feel like it is a lock for a win.

I think some in the media are quite desirous if a black quarterback succeeding in the NFL...

Ooops...did I say that out loud?

Seriously, spot on... Elway is a good comparison.

I would consider V. YOUNG another Steve Young but , alot faster and taller

He had the best game ever. He won that game

I can't ever recall a more powerful athlete at QB. He reminds me of a 6-5 cross of John Elway and Earl Cambell. Simply amazing. I think this year we witnessed two of the all time college greats.....Reggie Bush and Vince Young. Vince convinced me in Columbus back in September of 2005.

I think he is ready for the next level...any level but Austin later this year :).

On a serious note, I think that he is an exceptional talent but I wonder if it really is in his interest to come back next year. Guaranteed Heisman, that's what they said to Leinart. Guaranteed NC, well, you need a lot of luck and there will be a few games on the schedule that are pretty tough with the folks they lose.

If I were him, after that performance and year, I would go. It doesn't get better and the signing bonuses decline next year.

He had a phenominal game against USC, to be sure. But if you had seen USC play defense throughout the year, you would have known before-hand that VY would kill them. His accuracy throwing and his patience is what made the difference in the leap that he made this year with his game. He could have run for 300 yards against USC, but wisely made some throws when the run was also available, in the first half especially.
I was at least equally impressed with the game he had against us, because of how calm and collecteed he was throughout. He did throw a couple of picks, and his stats weren't even remotely anything like they were against USC, but that's because our D is a million times better than any Pac 10 team's. He still took the team on his back and won the game for them against us - same as he did in the Rose Bowl.
I sure as heck hope he goes pro, because I don't want our inexperienced D facing him next fall.

What I heard was Mort forecasting the draft and saying VY's people had informed the NFL he would more than likely come out but the Texans were taking Bush #1.

That would leave #2 and #3 in the air between Leinhart and VY according to Mort.
