Verizon & Android news

I've been trying to decide what I want to do for a phone and have found three options. I've been looking at the Samsung Galaxy S3, Note, and S2. I can get the S2 free with a 2 year contract. Is the upgrade of the S3 or Note worth an extra $250? Anyone who has used these phones, which do you prefer?

Thanks in advance.

I didn't have the G2 or note so I can't comment on those, but the S3 is the best phone I've ever owned, I love this phone..

I would browse some droid forums if I were you, you'll find A LOT of information there, I like android central the most

I tried out the Galaxy Note for a week last month. I REALLY liked the phone. But the thing that brought me back to my iPhone, and soon iPhone 5, was Siri, syncing of my email & notes flawlessly (Outlook), and Jailbreaking.

The G Note is an awesome phone, errr Phablet, with awesome specs. If it weren't for the things I stated above with iOS, I'd still have the note. Browsing the web was flawless, easy, and beautiful when images were displayed. Battery life was pretty decent, a little better than my current 3Gs. I loved the large screen. After having it for a few hours, it doesn't seem so big anymore. It fit perfectly fine in my pants/shorts pockets. I didn't really use the S Pen much, but when I did it was pretty cool (don't call it a stylus .

I have also played with the S2, and it felt very close to the note sans the HUGE screen & S Pen.

Haven't looked at the S3 as I'm not a fan of the cosmetics of the phone.

I would go with the Galaxy Note personally, or at least go play with it in the store for a while. I am hoping more and more companies grab the idea of the Phablet and run with it...(especially Apple, but one can dream )

Thanks guys for your inputs. I think I'm going to go with the S2 because of the amazing deal, plus I like the looks of it the best. I was looking at the Note in the stores and it was really nice, just a little bulky for my taste. The S2 has one of the larger screens on the market, but it's not too big that it feels weird in my hands. I would have taken a look at the Nexus but I'm with T-Mobile and they don't currently offer it. I was pleasantly surprised that they are making a Jellybean update for the S2, so that's another reason I'll go with it. This would be my first smartphone so I'm pretty excited!

The new, larger Kindle Fire HD 4G is out. My phone is about dead, and I almost never use it for calling. I'm considering the new Kindle, switching to Skype as the primary number, and rolling my cell over to Google Voice to keep that connection. The Kindle base plan is only 250MB a month - for $49 for the full first YEAR - but that would probably work for the rare times I'm outside wifi zones. Could work. Sure would save tons of cash. I just wish the smaller one were 4G, since anytime the Kindle is too much to tote around, that would mean no phone. Maybe wait for the iPad mini?

The Nexus 7 is rumored to be coming out with a 3g version as well. I currently have one and really like it.

I'm in the same boat. I'd really like just one device. I don't use my phone for calls more than 60 min a month. Im always doing something on my phone non call wise. However, I'd need a phone or phone capabilities for emergencies, so idk what to do. It just hard to browse the web and stuff on a 3.5" screen

Sweet! Meanwhile, everyone is still running Gingerbread on their previous devices since none of the providers want to push out any updates!

This is one of the main reason's I won't buy the latest and greatest device to come out of moto, samsung, HTC etc. Rooting your device and installing a custom rom isn't that hard.

And custom ROM's beat the shit out of the stock ROM's every time IMO.

Give me CyanogenMod/AOKP/ParanoidDroid over the standard bloated OS any day of the week.

Hell, my Fascinate is over 2 years old and it's running a more up to date OS than 90% of the phones out there.

Anyone here using google music? If so what do you use to sync your library? I've been syncing google music with my itunes library, but I'm now at the point where I can finally ditch that program. Playlist syncing is very important for me.
