Valentines day blizzard of 2007?

daddyphatsacs

Let the cards fall...
At least for some parts of the eastern seaboard that is what they may be saying ......... Hey, I had to catch your attention somehow....:wink2:

As it looks right now, it appears that a big snowstorm is coming for tomorrow night (Monday) into the day on Tuesday, possibly into early Wednesday. I bet some areas will see anywhere between 6-12 inches of snow in central Ohio before it's all said and done. I wouldn't be surprised to see some local areas get close to 15 inches. This storm may shut down the eastern seaboard on Wednesday, it looks like by the time it hits out there it will be a full blown blizzard (40-60 MPH wind gusts) with 1-2 feet of snow in some areas. Some of the southern big cities may see a mix for a while, and there is still a small chance that when it hits the eastern seaboard it will run out to sea......bringing the nastiest part of the storm with it, regardless someone is going to get a pretty hefty storm I think.

A rain/ snow mix may run up into some areas of southern/ central Ohio, so it could cut down on some snow accumulations, so keep that in mind. Regardless, this thing has the potential to be the biggest storm that we've seen in central Ohio (from a large scale standpoint) dating back to December of 2004 (remember that thing?).

I'm sure that you can tell by now that I'm a weather geek, but I'm sure that there are others out there who want to get hit by a big storm. I think it could be coming.......

I could end up being wrong with some of what I'm boasting.......but that wouldn't make me any worse than the actual guys who forecast this thing right?

can we get a vbet set up that ends at say noon tom for the actual snowfall at port columbus? that was so much fun when we did that last year? maybe four or five ranges with odds? i just literally remember rooting for more snow, then for it to slow down (simply put jo had lots of fun)

I forgot about that. That was a good one. I second the idea of another vbet.

That sounds like a good idea to me. It looks like the rain/ snow line is wanting to continue to trickle itself up farther and farther north. I'm rooting for it to stop.

It looks like it could be a classic "all snow north of I-70, with a mix below of it" scenario. At least, that is what may happen as of right now. For whoever falls just on the side of all snow (with no mix), they are going to get absolutely hammered.......that area will see over a foot of snow I think. There will be severe thunderstorms on the warm side of this storm, so if that heavy precipitation is sucked into the cold area of the storm you'll have some heavy snow/ sleet/ freezing rain. Those areas of all snow will see it fall at 1-2 inches an hour. That will occur on the north/ northwest side of the low pressure. If it runs right across the Ohio river, or a touch north, someone in Central Ohio will see it. Keep in mind, this storm is still 1 1/2- 2 days out, and a lot can still change.

I love Valentines day all because my birthday is the day before so I make her do the special things for me, seems to work in my favor that way.

Huh? What, are you implying that you are going to have her make a snowman or something like that? :wink2:

You may have the wrong thread bro.
