Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

Trust the AD that didn't self-impose a bowl ban in 2011 and then made the excuse that the NCAA would have made it a two year ban anyway even if he had? Wake up.

The basketball practice facility was over a year behind schedule and $5 Million over budget. Gene waited way too long to fire Matta when the writing was on the wall. Indiana got the jump on us. If Holtmann turns out to be better than Archie Miller, that's a failure on the part of the Hoosier AD, not a feather in Gene's cap. If Holtmann is the better coach, and all the evidence we have so far, albeit limited, suggests that he is, Indiana could've had him if they wanted him. Gene didn't cleverly wait to relieve Thad of his duties until Indiana made the first move. It looks like he just got lucky.

Look at what we're paying for football tickets. And they're considering another increase in prices? Hell, Gene raised the price for spring game tickets to $20 until it blew up in his face. Wake the fuck up.

When Urban has received the last dime that OSU owes him, whenever that is, I'll bet he won't have a lot of nice things to say about Gene Smith. I'll bet Gene will be more than happy to keep him on the payroll in some way, shape, or form for a while if he can keep that from ever coming to pass.

I was just pointing out that there is definitely no love lost there. Urban thanked everyone (family, coaches, players, Gene, etc.) but not Drake.
How does that compare to their history with E. Gordon Gee? Did they ever think he was truly important to the future of this university too? Because if they did, they were wrong.

Gee did himself in by thinking he was not merely just important to the university's future but too big to fail. That hubris allowed him to wear out his welcome pretty quickly his second time around. That being said, the right President is vital to the university's future. Drake may not be transformational in the way that Hayes (de-facto Prez after returning from DC), Thompson or Jennings were, but they also were on the scene at crucial junctures for the university's future. Drake inherited a machine firing on all cylinders, but that doesn't make his job easy nor does that momentum preclude the possibility of the wrong guy screwing things up. Drake has taken what he was given and consistently moved it forward. The trustees, the foundation board and the Orton Society crowd recognize that, which is why they did everything possible to keep him happy and feeling wanted.

Playoffs be damned. I love that Urban's last game as head coach of tOSU is going to be the Rose Bowl. I hope he gets to raise his arms to send in that victory formation play call.

We all knew this was coming, someday. And of course we even suspected (feared) it could be today.

I am excited for Day and I think the program is in great hands but I'm very sad: for Urban. He loved his job and excelled at it. Bummed he didn't get to go out truly on his own timeline, but glad it was his call, and believe he made the right choice for himself and his family. I also look forward to him remaining the wings in some capacity and getting to share in the triumphs of the program he made strong beyond our reasonable expectations when he arrived.

Thank you Urban. For all of it.

We'll do everything we can as fans to continue the tradition of excellence. Proud to consider Urban a fellow alum of tOSU, and I take great solace in knowing he will be houlder to shoulder with us rooting them forward on Saturdays in the fall.

Carmen, no matter the result. Today is a sad result..but it's Carmen and it's time and change to show how firm our friendship... Ohio.
