Being the flagship - and only P5 - school in a 2nd tier recruiting State makes a very great baseline. See 9-3 Earle during an era with a lot more parity.
Only LSU and UGA* share that distinction. All the 1st tier states have a lot of options within - which also serves to break up any local loyalty - and heavily recruited nationally.
Whenever Urbs does leave... i think we may need the next Tressel more than the next Urban.


*not counting GTech... theyre better academically but just dont have the same kind of statewide following and run triple option in ACC.

I dunno, he doesn't really look like he's checked out yet if the sideline behavior is anything to go by. He looked like he wanted to murder something all game lol. Clearly still has the fire to coach but maybe the stress finally gets to him.

For those who think no coaches are better than Meyer except Saban, how do you think our current team compares to our former coaches teams (Fickell at Cincy and Herman at UT)? I think Herman's team would crush ours and it would probably be a tough game against Cincy, both teams have less talent then this current OSU team.

2014 Urban was certainly special and at the top of the profession but I think 2018 Meyer could be replaced by a decent number of coaches and it would be an upgrade. Part of the problem maybe that 2018 Meyer thought it was a good idea to hire all his buddies as assistant coaches rather than finding the best coaches available

I think we're assuming Urban can still lure a competent coaching staff to OSU.

Scoring is 40th Ohio State; 50th Texas.
Yea they did better against TCU. Should we compare again after Maryland ? Both these Defenses are junk.
I'm fine with our O ... things could be better, but it's the Defense that is shitting the bed in record fashion.
I'm in no hurry to replace Urban with Herman... or bringing Beck back.
