Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

I'm guessing that he wanted to see his grandkids and his bar/restaurant. Say what you like about him, he wasn't exactly philandering in public while at Ohio State and he's not stupid. I'm guessing that he had too much to drink, the family and those girls tried to pull him into their party, and he found himself in a very awkward situation. Tell them to leave him alone and that is a Dispatch front page story about a Mr Big Shot who hates his customers.

I was most opposed to him coming to Ohio State because of the thuggery taking place in Florida and I thought he had faked the health problems because the team was in a nosedive and out of control. In time, I came to see that he was perhaps the one coach who could immediately halt the decline after the Tressel debacle.

He strengthened academics, brought in programs to prepare students for life in the real world, and put together a powerhouse, but he also made some silly mistakes in hiring friends and leaving his former boss' family in a coaching position (when that guy was a walking dildo).

I am not at all convinced this was not a setup of some kind. Whatever, he saved Ohio State's ass at a time when ESPiN was going all out to crush the program. I have a lot of respect for what he did and how he did it. I strongly disagree with the way he is being positioned in this thread.
There's no question about UM's overall positive impact on the University, the athletic program, the football team and the student-athletes.

And I don't think anybody wants to (or will ultimately be able to) take that away from him.

I as well have a lot of respect for what he did and how he did it.

Nonetheless, for me, that respect and deference does not translate over to saying that it's okay for him to do what he appears to have been doing - which seems to go beyond being an innocent or polite bystander - with that young female.

And this thing may indeed have been a setup, but it doesn’t change my take.

And that... his allowing himself to get baited (by the situation or the female or the flunkie journalist looking to redeem himself or whatever) is disappointing and not *trying* to uphold the standard to which he claims to hold everyone else around him. And that's how he / his actions are being portrayed in the this thread.

E + R = O

More ramifications:

Woman, 24, seen in 'grinding' video with married Urban Meyer, 57, claims viral footage is 'ruining her life' and she could lose her job at marketing firm
  • The 24-year-old Ohio woman who was filmed dancing suggestively with the NFL head coach is under investigation by her employer and may lose her job
  • The video, shot at Urban Chophouse in Columbus, Ohio, also shows the coach appearing to fondle the woman - who has not yet been named - from behind
  • '(She) can't even go anywhere,' the woman's mother - who has also yet to be has revealed, adding, 'It's ruining her life'
  • New Horizon Media Group, the digital marketing firm where the woman works, has not yet fired the woman, pending the results of the investigation
  • The company says the probe is intended to discern whether or not the scandal would have any lasting effects on operations at the company
  • New Horizon does business with Urban Chophouse, which Meyer part-owns
The mother of the woman in the now-viral video is now concerned for the well-being of her daughter in the wake of the scandal, USA reported, as she has been the target of rampant abuse since the video surfaced last week, and is subsequently afraid to leave the Ohio home she just bought.

'(She) can't even go anywhere,' the mother - who has also yet to be identified - told USA Today Sports. 'It's ruining her life.'

The Ohio mother then told the outlet she was praying her daughter does not get fired, because she needs the job to finance her newly purchased home.

'I just pray that Alex [the owner of New Horizons] doesn't fire my daughter because she needs this job,' the woman said. 'She just bought a house.'

When asked why an investigation is necessary, New Horizon told USA that they were merely looking into whether or not the scandal would have any lasting effects on operations at the company, as the firm does business with Urban Chophouse.

'We're going to undertake our internal investigation to determine what, if any, impact this has on the company and we'll proceed accordingly,' New Horizon Media Group told USA Today.

'We've had no prior issues with her whatsoever,' a rep for the company added, saying, 'she's been a very solid asset to the company.'

The young woman and Coach Meyer have been reminded of today's unfortunate reality - everyone has a camera. Conduct yourself accordingly in public.

Otherwise, this is what can happen. There are people for whom "going viral" is the highlight of their life, and they don't care who they harm in doing it.

Without in any way defending Coach Meyer, there's something ultimately very sad about being a person who aspires to be in a place of potential scandal with a cameraphone and a social media account.

Or she lives in Columbus. Home of the Buckeyes and she genuinely loves her job and is afraid of losing her job because of the attention from OSU fans?

Not sure how this would be a payday situation.

You think OSU fans are blaming her? Urban could have politely said to find a different dick to grind on. So yeah, I'm surprised that anyone would be giving her shit. If he were coaching OSU and we were in midst of a playoff run and he got suspended for part of the season I could see how some misdirected anger could go her way, but is anyone angry about this?

What I said about statement put out sounding like it is setting the groundwork for a potential claim... You don't need to be able to win a civil case to get paid, you just need one party who doesn't want to go through the discovery process and would rather write a check and make it go away. She could say anything... That the bar over served her so it was their fault this happened to her, and guess who owns part of the bar, and guess who can be brought in on camera to ask questions that could be quite personal and embarrassing. I'm not saying she would win, I'm not even saying she is going to try to collect a bag off this, I'm just saying this type of thing happens so nothing would surprise me.

I see a fair amount blaming her yes

I don't really see why a 24 year old girl would want to grind on a 57 year old football coach, but I guess that's up to her. She doesn't deserve to lose her job or be blasted in the news but what was she doing with her life anyway really?

You're very naïve...

He has a net worth of $35 million and is super famous, I'd say it has little to do with his age.
Bingo!

And Idk why he wouldn't have a back room or a setup where he's away from the public. It's not the difficult. I've worked in a number of hotels and restaurants who have had such set up for high profile people. Urban is a legend in Columbus, and anywhere he walks people pull out their phones to record him. And I assume that's true with almost any coach of any major program in America. Urban acted like Lane Kiffin in this case, and deserves every bit of ridicule sent his way for being so amateur and foolish with not realizing today's social media climate. Hell, I bet most of his own team wouldn't be dumb enough to let a chick grind on them in full public view, they'd be in a separate VIP area.

In the real world, stuff one does off the job often affects one's job security. Like it or not, things work that way, and they have for a long time. It's that way for both Meyer and the chick.
Looking at it from her perspective, when you're not breaking any laws, not saying anything particularly offensive or inflammatory, and not being antagonistic to your employer, the stuff you do off the job almost never affects one's job security. I still fail to see the connection with her job here.
