Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

Actually, the tell is when he rubs his left temple. I noticed him doing it from the start of the game and mentioned it and that is why I was saying that it was the cyst, not a collision, that took him down during the game.

During the BS attack on him, it came out that his arachnoid cyst meds can affect his memory and judgement. I hope he has not stopped taking them. It is usually congenital and can be addressed with a short surgery to drain it. Better to take a bit of a back seat next two games, still on the sideline, than to mess up his health. Yesterday was a real warning.

Had this conversation with my wife during the game. He’s dealt with the arachnoid cyst his entire life. It got to its worst at the end of his Florida tenure. That, coupled with other general health neglects drove him out of football entirely.

He’s managed it well enough since coming home to Ohio State, including electing for a surgery in 2014, but this season has taken a pretty heavy toll on him. He’s been squinting under the post game press conference lights for weeks now, and rubbing his left temple frequently.

My completely uninformed opinion is that the backlash from the Zach Smith report “memory loss” fiasco has both increased his day-to-day stress and driven him to avoid his prescribed meds.

Even at the end of his Florida tenure, he didn’t look disoriented at post game pressers or collapse with migraines on the sidelines.

Something is seriously wrong and he needs to take care of it post haste. I’m not saying he needs to retire to take care of his health and “spend more time with his family,” but at least acknowledge he needs treatment for this and hand the team back to Coach Day for a week or two while he figures it out and possibly has another minimal out patient cyst drainage done.

Totally agree with everything you said. I don't think that most people realize how much hell he was put through in August/September.

Whatever he has to do to take care of himself, he should do. Some people (not all, of course) are so focused on his job, they don't realize what a strain he must be under, even in the best of times. Short answer? "That's why he makes the big bucks." Yeah, but considering worst case scenario, that's not a loss I even want to think about.

Do what you need to do, Coach. We're all with you. :oh:

New Details On Urban Meyer’s Health Following Sideline Scare

18-09-22-FB-0244.jpg

Monday, he went into a little more detail on the incident, as well as the condition that lead to it.

In 2014, he had surgery to drain an Arachnoid Cyst, a fluid-filled cyst that can develop in the brain. The condition is not life-threatening, but in Meyer’s case, it has lead to headaches.

“I’ve been dealing with that cyst for many years, and we had the surgery several years ago,” Meyer said.

The condition has apparently flared up again, but Meyer said it’s something he’s managing.

“When it does take place, it’s just, you know, they give me some medicine,” he said. “I feel fine now. Just something I’ve got to monitor.”

Meyer said he was not planning to undergo another procedure to drain the cyst.

“I’ll get by with what we’re doing,” he said.

I had to "ggogle it" to find out what an arachnoid cyst was:
