Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

Giving actual "ranking points" for beating someone who is ranked will only have the polls ensure that as many SEC teams are ranked when the season starts so that almost every conference win earns points for the head teams in the SEC...
Maybe he was referring to something more like confidence points that the committee can tabulate and make their decisions on?

Love the uniformity that he talks about. Every P5 school should play 9 conference games and all have to have a Conference Championship (think they do now). The best part is no polls until week 4. I could live with all of that.

I missed that part. I would agree, except that I'd wait until the sixth week (the approximate halfway point of the regular season).

Urban Meyer would 'absolutely' be open to taking Dallas Cowboys coaching job if an offer came his way

"Pure speculation, because I know [Riley], but I don't know him like that, but that's the one [job]," Meyer said. "That's the New York Yankees, that's the Dallas Cowboys, that's the one. Great city, you got Dak Prescott, you got Zeke Elliott, you got a loaded team, and I can't speak for [Riley] obviously -- I hate to even speculate -- because I don't know him, that's really not fair, but to me, that's the one job in professional football that you kind of say, 'I gotta go do that.'"

After Meyer mentioned that it's the "one job" that any coach would have to consider, Cowherd asked him if he would be open to taking it if the Cowboys called.

"Absolutely. Absolutely," Meyer said. "That one? Yes."

Can't see it happening. He's got to deal with Jerry Jones, and no coach worth his salt is willing to do it. Just ask Bill Parcells, Jimmy Johnson, Barry Switzer ad nauseum.

Just psychology by Urban. He's trying to convince Lincoln Riley to take it, so Oklahoma gets weakened and Ryan Day's handling of QBs and offenses in college will be in a class by itself.

When's the last big time college coach who translated that to NFL success, and don't you dare fucking say Harbaugh. Plus, Urban is too much of a control freak to deal with a GM and a team owner. He found Michael Drake stifling, say hello to Jerruh Jones.

Bret Arnold Bielema...b#tch*s! New England Patriots defensive line coach, just in case you forgot him.

Hard to argue with Urban, however, having done both in short yardage as a RB, one thing he failed to recognize or mention is the RBs momentum etc. He did concede the RB is square to the line, but my biggest gripe was that I had way less momentum from the gun than I. In the I the RB is full ass speed ahead. In the gun, you have to slide sideways then go. It is a step slower even though the mesh point may be the same and that step is HUGE when the D is flying up field.

I totally get the numbers game and equating with the QB run. I did that as a coach all the time, and from under center too. Doesn't have to only be QB sneak, can run option easily from under center. But another way is to call the play on the LOS after the QB reads the defense. You are going to be out numbered, now just run to the side that the numbers are even. Normally you are only outnumbered on one side, not both.

I'm pretty sure he mentioned that.
