UF OL Ronnie "Taz" Wilson (official thread)

TAZ...

WELCOME to Buckeye Planet! As you can tell with us Buckeyes, everything other than college football is a way to pass the time UNTIL college football. Until you've been on main campus in mid October, when it's just cool enough for a sweatshirt, the smell of vendors food in the air and scarlet and gray EVERYWHERE...You haven't experienced the purity of the game! I can recall the first time I walked into the shoe, I was absolutely floored by the place. When everyone else piled in and the team came out...I got chills. THEN when the band played Carmen Ohio, I broke down. I can tell you that I almost never get through a game without shedding a tear over the atmosphere and out of reverence for the history that I am a part of. Us Buckeyes live and die with every play, a loss is like losing a best friend and every win brings us all together. I can guarentee you that the Buckeye fans are the most passionate that you can find anywhere...we know the game...we know the history...and we follow the future...right here on Buckeye Planet!

Dang, it feels good to be a Buckeye...I'm ready for some football!

Orlando Pace

Korey Stringer

LeCharles Bentley

3 good reasons to come to OSU.

Ronnie, we all hope to see you in a Buckeye uniform next year. Any chance you might be coming up for an unofficial before the Michigan game?

I'll never forget when the Bucks beat Michigan in 02' to earn a trip to the Fiesta against Miami. I was on crutches, 2 months after reconstructive knee surgery and I swear to god I hugged over 1000 people on my way back to the car...I couldn't even tell you how many people I high fived. I even had some guys pick me up and carry me a few hundred yards. It was human isle after isle of people holding there hands up for a slap. 500,000 people falling all over eachother. It was really something special. Hopefully, we'll be able to experience that again this year.

It felt so good I limped nearly the entire way back to the car without the crutches. I felt no pain, just happiness.

the greatest college lineman i have ever seen, or probably ever will.
what did he finish, 4th in the heisman balloting?
he SHOULD have won it.

#74 wouldn't be a bad number either. That number belonged to none other than John Hicks, who in 1973 had one of the single greatest seasons ever in college football for an offensive lineman...he won both the Lombardi and Outland trophies and finished second in the Heisman voting. If his team mates Archie Griffin and Randy Gradishar hadn't taken votes away from Hicks, he would have won the award. I personally think Hicks was as good as, if not better, than Pace.

By the way, Taz, are in Columbus visiting?

Taz,

Let me tell you why The Ohio State University is the perfect place for you. I grew up in Ohio and have been a die hard Buckeye fan since the time I could watch the tv on those beautiful Ohio fall afternoon, where the leaves change color and there's that brisk of freshness in the air. When it came time to choose a college unfortunatley for me I did not have your size and ability so Division I football was not an option. Still the football was in my blood so I elected to go to a Division III school in Southwestern Pennsylvania. While there, my passion for the Buckeyes never waivered and I reamained loyal to the scarlet and gray. I also met my wife, got married and decided to attend law school here so that she could remain close to her family. I went to law school in Pittsburgh and still remained true to the Bucks. People would always ask if I went to undergraduate at tosu and I would just tell them, "No, this is how everyone in Ohio feels about the Buckeyes." They never understood it, but they respected it.

After law school, I got a job with a good firm and stayed in Pennsylvania. Being away from the state for so many years, I have come to truly learn how passionate Ohio State fans are about the Buckeyes. Here where I live, no other school or professional team even comes close. My wife is amazed everytime we go back to my parent's house the way people worship Ohio State. She will never understand, but she has accepted it.

Taz, I hope I have not went on too long, but; 1) that's what attorneys do and 2) it just shows my passion for tosu. I would like to end with this, as I have said I'm not an alumni and unfortunately I have only been in Ohio Stadium twice. Once I was a freshmen in high school and even being a enthusiastic fan, I didn't get "it." The second time was when I took my son to the spring game last year for his first experience. When TBDBITL played Carmen, Ohio I was moved to tears. Taz, just imagine the emotion you will feel playing in front of 105,000+ every Saturday and then imagine the emotion you will feel everytime you walk back into the Shoe for the rest of your life. To me, the decision is easy. Good luck!

Hey Taz,

We like lineman at tOSU. And it's a great place to be one:

Buckeyes have won 4 Outland Trophies.

Buckeyes have won 5 Lombardi Trophies, more than any other school. Orlando Pace is the only player to win the Lombardi trophy twice.

This is the thing that gives the Buckeyes an edge, the Ohio State spirit, the unwavering practice of devotion, devotion the way Woody would want it, and the way John Cooper never could understand.

Man, that excerpt from the article sums it up right there. If Cooper had only understood...

Taz, you have to opportunity to play for a program that is among the most storied not only in college football but in all of sports. You would be a part of an era of Buckeyes under Jim Tressel that will be as gloried as those under the legendary Woody Hayes. If you were to come to Ohio State, we can all but assure you that you'll be playing in a national title game at least once during your time here.
