Alan Shearer

I cannot believe someone honestly has to say this...and in other news Water is Wet.

Euro 2012: Alan Shearer says England cannot win World Cup

Former captain Alan Shearer believes England have no chance of winning the 2014 World Cup and are "a million miles away" from the top international sides...

..."It's a sign of how far behind we are now that we can go home and say we can hold our heads up high for getting into the quarter finals."

My coach ALWAYS had that mentality. Don't think he had any stats behind his reasoning. Just wanted to "put the best foot forward" so to speak.

Best shooter goes first. Start off with a goal and put pressure on the rest.

He certainly doesn't go LAST. :shake:

IMO, he should have gone third at the LATEST.

Says you picked Portugal.

Forgot about that. I missed the Czech/Portugal match and match I signed on to fill out the rest of the quarter finals. It wouldn't let me save until I picked all games... and since Portugal was in the semi's with no opponent there was no option to pick anyone other than Portugal. I literally didn't have the option to pick anyone else or a tie. I forgot to go back in and change it. True story

Seriously, go in and try to change tomorrow's pick and save it without picking Spain in the final match.

I was able to make my picks just before today's game just fine. Maybe it's only when one of the two (in this instance) advance is when that issue pops up.

The new generation should bridge the gap technically with Wilshere, Chamberlain, Adam Johnson, Welbeck, Sturridge, and Cleverly. They won't be Germany or Spain, but they don't have to be.

I remember reading a quote this year from someone (I think it was Paul Scholes) that said some players only use England to get a move to a bigger club and the majority of the team can't handle the pressure. As shitty as they may be right now, they bring a lot of it on themselves. England are the only team I've ever seen who walk around scared shitless and with a sense of entitlement at the same time.

You are correct... it only happens when one team has advanced and doesn't have an opponent yet.

I just went in to pick Germany/Italy and the same thing happened. In order to save my pick I had to pick Spain in the final But this time its okay... I'm picking Spain for the final no matter what (I guess unless I see Germany win by 4-0 I would reconsider).

But no worries... I am still in the basement and am likely to remain there all by myself. I should watch more soccer and maybe in 2 years at the World Cup I'll be able to pick better! Haha.
