I'm listening to the 606 podcast right now. I love this show. Somebody called in and demanded to know why Peter Crouch wasn't in the team.

It was midnight-ish in England, but I kind of wish that show went for two hours last night, just to hear people blow off steam.

It was actually at its funniest when England got blown away by Germany in South Africa. Chris Waddle's rant during the game broadcast is probably available somewhere (where he slams his headphones during the broadcast).

Since Germany was fined over $30k by UEFA for supporters flying a Neo-Nazi flag and both Russia and Spain were charged for racist chanting, I've lost count on who hasn't been charged/fined during EURO 2012.

I believe it's just Holland, Denmark and Greece.

They wouldn't be able to pay anyways

Starting lineups:

Portugal: Rui Patricio: Pereira, Pepe, Bruno Alves, Coentrao; Veloso, Meireles, Moutinho, Nani, Cristiano Ronaldo & Almeida.

Spain: Casillas; Arbeloa, Ramos, Pique, Jordi Alba; Busquets, Xabi Alonso, Xavi, Iniesta, Silva & Negredo.

No Fabregas or Torres in the starting XI....Interesting.

Solid half thus far from both sides. Spain with a slight advantage in possession. Portugal hit Spain with a bit of high pressure and Spain handled it with ease. But it only takes one slight opening for Ronaldo to break through.

For the record, I picked Spain to win, but am rooting for Portugal to win their first major soccer tournament.

Extra time for Spain and Portugal.

I hate that ESPN has to explain how extra time works. Normally I'd say that it's another instance of them being condescending to soccer fans, but the do that shit with every sport. College football is another one they're bad about. The overtiime rules have been in place there for a long time now, and they still explain it all like we're witnessing the first overtime ever played.

Is it too much to ask to expect viewers to simply observe and figure a bit of it out on their own rather than spoonfeeding everything to us?

Yes.

I also need to know if anyone playing is a club teammate of an American player, whether the countries involved have significant immigrant populations in America, whether any of the players are thinking about vacationing in America, and the opinions of as many former American internationals as possible.
