UEFA Champions League (Official Thread)

Great 2nd half from Milan. They really frustrated Barcelona in the 2nd half and used there height advantage well without reward unfortunately. Pep did well to bring on Tello for Iniesta, who had been downright awful the entire game. I did think he dropped the ball on not bringing Fabregas on for Keita, who had picked up a yellow at the 60 minute mark. Milan can live with the result, but they definitely have there work cut out for them at the Camp Nou where Barcelona will be drastically more comfortable on a smoother field that suits there style.

I was bummed to see Emanuelson come on so early for Boateng. KPB must not be 100% yet.

I saw Aquilani was back from injury in one of the Serie A games. Didn't see him at all during the Milan-Barca game, wonder why. He adds a nice dynamic to the midfield playing across from Nocerino.

Either way, it's a guarantee that Milan will have SOME players back (Silva and Pato, I would think) for the 2nd leg. They'll need all the help they can get.

Now watch, whoever comes out of this matchup alive gets Bayern Munich next. Call it the gauntlet.

I was surprised to see KPB come off so early as well. I thought he was playing quite well when they took him off. The winner of this tie will face the winner of Chelsea-Benfica. Real Madrid & Bayern Munich are all but assured to face each other in the other semi-final & what a tie that will be.

Thank god. I mean, I thought Milan and Barca got a raw deal, considering both were in the same group in the Group Phase of the competition.

I personally would rather face Chelsea over Benfica. Benfica's squad just screams upset team. Then again, this is all Chelsea really has to play for this season since they are sitting in 5th (23 points behind United) in the EPL. So I wouldn't put it past them to hold onto their 1-0 aggregate and await the winner of this brutal matchup.

Will be interesting to see who's in the starting lineups as kickoff from the Camp Nou is about 105 minutes away. For Milan, van Bommel & Thiago Silva remain out, but Pato is back in the team, most likely as a sub. For Barcelona, Xavi is supposedly dealing with a muscular problem, but I would be stunned if he didn't start. Adriano is back from injury and he's expected to start at left back as well as Fabregas (Nothing even said he was injured last week) who will probably play his usual "all over the place" role in the team.

Gotta imagine it's going to be something like this for Milan:

------------------------Abbiati---------------------
------------Abate, Mexes, Nesta, Antonini----------------
-----------Aquilani, Van Bommel, Nocerino----------------
------------------------Boateng------------------------
----------Robinho------------Ibrahimovic----------------

Bonera may start in place of Nesta. Silva is still out for another 3 weeks. Ambrosini may start in place of MVB, whom I haven't seen in the last 3 or so appearances (rest maybe)

Chelsea are worlds better than Benfica. Ibrahimovic and Robinho would have a field day vs Benfica. Their center backs cannot run.

I'm learning that rather quickly. I've just learned to never underestimate the Portuguese clubs after seeing what Hulk is capable of.

IMO, Hulk has the most powerful leg in the game right now. More powerful than Ibra.

EDIT: Yes I know he plays for FC Porto.

Needs some Seedorf, IMO. He was crucial for Milan in the last leg...MOM along with Antonini.

Plus with Torres rounding into form (added to the fact that he much more suits European football than English) Chelsea are going to be a hard out for any of the remaining clubs.

Hulk has a cannon. I'm hoping he gets a move to a bigger club this summer.
