U.S. Men's National Soccer (Official Thread)

It's as if this team thought they were going to get to play the beautiful game tonight rather than getting dragged down into typical CONCACAF bullshit.

Let's hope they find their lunchpails and hardhats at halftime.

It's that man Jozy again. A goal was coming with the way the game had opened up. Glad it was for us and not them. They're going to have to work hard to either not concede or get a second to put it to bed. Honduras have had a couple good chances.

Grant Wahl's take on Jermaine Jones:

? Jermaine Jones needs to understand his role better. Jones is a Klinsmann favorite, but Michael Bradley is the central midfielder the U.S. needs to build around, not Jones. The German-American spent too much of the game not allowing Bradley to be Bradley. What do I mean by that? Too often Bradley has to read what Jones is doing and base his movements and actions off that. It should more often be the other way around, with Jones deferring to Bradley. Geoff Cameron seemed to understand that better in last week's win against Panama, sometimes dropping deep and consistently playing off what Bradley was doing. What's more, because Jones so readily draws yellow cards, as he did Tuesday, he becomes a game-long risk of being sent off for a second. (Honduras was clearly trying to bait him into one.) Cameron only played one and one half games next to Bradley in the central midfield, but he was an upgrade on Jones during that time.

Couldn't agree more. JJ has some of the highest level of technical skill on the team, but he's too much of a wildcard out there for me. After watching how Cameron's paired with Bradley in the midfield over the last 1.5 games, I'd much rather have him starting than JJ.

Didn't see a Women's National Team thread at first glance, so putting this here.

Abby Wombach just tied Mia Hamm with 158 Intn'l goals just 20 minutes into the match with South Korea, up 2-0.

And Abby just took the record from Mia in 29 minutes! USA 3-0
