My goodness. That sequence was like a cat continuing to play with a bird whose neck is already broken. That deserved to end with a goal but that was a tough, tricky attempt at a finish by Dempsey.

Trying to decide if he mis[Mark May] it or not... but I'll give him the benefit on the topspin bouncer.

Good card there.

With the yellow cards piling up, is there any interest in having some guys intentionally pick up their suspension at some point along the way so they are not forced to sit at a more inopportune time?

Twellman is right, that rule is insane.

dempsey is showing why he's a wing player, not the off forward...

I have to go back to this, because I'm not sure I completely agree. I like Dempsey starting as the off-forward, but with a bit of a free role. He's too good of a poacher to not let him play in that position. If he stays in that spot for the entire match though he can be marked out of the game. He's at his best when he drifts out wide and back in. That, along with his willingness to "try shit" makes him difficult to account for. He seems to compliment Altidore well when he plays that way - they seem to have an understanding at the moment when to overload an area as a pair or when one of them should make a run to draw attention or create space for the other.

I want so badly for Holden to be fully fit and in the mix.

Totally. Showed a lot of promise before injuries completely plagued him. A very unlucky individual the past few years. Really hope he can stay healthy, because he has a lot to offer us.

The Bradley-Jones pairing in the midfield has been very good to the US lately, but it seemed like Bradley-Cameron may be even more effective. Jones is a bit of a wild card in the way he attacks, and Bradley then has to be the one to decide when to hang back or push forward. Seems to me like with Cameron becoming more of the holding midfielder and Bradley pushing forward, the attack has a little more punch to it. MB directs traffic so well, but he really is a dynamic attacker from the midfield position when he gets those chances.

Either way, this team is playing at a very high level right now.

I agree with everything you're saying here, but, that's exactly why he should be on the wing. Precisely because he can do all those things and still handle a MF spot.
