Game Thread Tulane @ Ohio State - 09/22/18, 3:30PM (BTN)

Love to see people make good use of this thread

I make chili with cubes of steak and a mix of poblanos, habaneros and chipotles.

Not cajun, but it’s awesome

Then, Saturday night my wife whipped up a cheese sauce (the real thing, not processed) and mixed it with the leftover chili and gave it to me with a bag of Tostitos and an Oktoberfest.

Forget December. THIS is the most wonderful time of the year

allow me to clarify a bit.

they may have gone to Rouse’s and picked up some stuff in a box that’s called “jambalaya mix” or “etouffee mix” or something like that.

and to the uninitiated, it may look and smell like cajun food.
but at the end of the day, it’s shit from a box.
REAL cajun food don’t come from boxes.
In case you're wondering (and you weren't), I've eaten crawfish po-boys from a wooden shack in Bayou Sorrel, inside the Atchafalaya Floodway. Nothing better.

I’m ecstatic that the team is still undefeated going into the first week with Urban back at the helm. I’ve been of the opinion that TCU posed the biggest threat to derail an undefeated season. I think Penn State has some glaring weaknesses and McSorley isn’t as efficient as he was last season. I also think while the man who replaced Saquon Barkley isn’t near as talented, he still has the capability of being that workhorse back PSU needs to rely upon in closer games. That being said, I still don’t see Penn State having what it takes to grind this offense to a halt.

Sure, the defense needs some work and tweaks here or there. I think soon we’ll get some different looks at both CB and S. As much as I would love to see Shaun Wade lock down the other safety position next to Fuller, I think it’s vital he stays put at CB. Damon Arnette may turn into a situational corner, while Wade takes over the third coverage CB spot. I’m not sure what that says for the other safety spot, but there’s plenty of talented players who are capable of seizing that position. Linebacker is still a big question mark, but I’m confident the LBs will begin to play more to their potential. Losing Bosa is also concerning, but Cooper will fill in just fine in his absence.

What I would like to see in this game against Tulane are some extremely different looks at the LB and S positions to see who/what may work to alleviate some of the stress the defense is causing by giving up big plays. It’s a perfect tune up week, and one the Buckeyes should utilize to see if guys like Hilliard, Jones, Proctor, or Riep (I know he’s playing behind Fuller, but I wouldn’t mind seeing him slide over and see what happens) are ready to take the next step towards a significant increase in minutes at their respective positions. I’m eager to see what kind of looks we’ll see on defense on Saturday.

Wow, I bet that was some kind of spicy.

A couple of years ago I bought a young plant that was labeled "jalapeno" from one of those garden centers. As it grew I began to realize it wasn't a jalapeno. Then the fruit started to grow. When they got to a box shape I realized they were habaneros. I got about 100 fruit from that one plant. I pickled and canned them all but was afraid to eat them for a year or two. Then I was making a relish and decided to add a teaspoon or so of them. Turned out great.

Edit: Oh, and Daddy, you have a good woman there.

The reason I believe we should move a corner to safety is we will lose Fuller most likely at the end of the year. I am not confident rolling Pryor or Wint out at safety even next year at this point.

I don't even care who it is at this point from Okuda, Sheffield, Wade, or Arnette but we cannot continue to roll out the biggest position of liability I have seen on an OSU defense that i can remember.

I cannot wait until Saturday part because I love to watch this team play but mainly so the defense can get back out there and figure it out. Unfortunately the odds are that we are going to give up another big play or so and if we want to piss away this season we'll continue doing what we have done the first three games.

In 2013 we couldn't stop the pass, in 2015 our offensive Staff blew one of the most talented offenses, and in 2017 Iowa happened. We have had a few really good Seasons derailed by a glaring weakness that we refuse to fix and to be frank I'm a little afraid that's what will happen this year.

Drastic circumstances call for drastic measures. Fix it. Fix it at all costs.
