ttun Shenanigans and Arguments (2015 official thread)

Bacon also thinks that Mike Lantry kicked the game-winning field goal in the 1974 Game, but that the refs screwed Michigan. He's a one-man cult, a Bo-bot.

I've heard that from several sources. He may be a one-man cult, but he isn't alone in that opinion.
The only video I've ever seen from the game is a terrible angle, and the quality is so bad that you can't see the ball very well. All you can see is that he's kicking from the right hash mark, and the ball gets left in a hurry. I think it was on here that I saw someone post that he was at the game, and had a perfect view of the kick compared to that goalpost, and it clearly went wide left.
Michigan fans are also convinced that they should have won the 1972 game. I guess the score was 14-11, good guys winning, and Michigan went for it on fourth and goal. The runner, according to Michigan fans, crossed the goal line (I'm sure I've seen the adverb "clearly" when Michigan fans tell the story), got pushed backward, crossed the goal line AGAIN, and again got pushed backward. Referees say no touchdown, and Ohio State went on to win. Yay. I don't know that I've ever looked for a replay of that.

Back on topic, the few times I've heard Bacon talk, he hasn't bothered me too much. He seems to have a slight "I'm a Michigan man, you're not, so I'm better than you" attitude. You get far worse from people with far less knowledge than him, so I can let it go. Plus, his hatred of Ohio State comes from respect; unlike the Penn State cult, whose hatred of Ohio State comes from knowing that they cannot be Ohio State.

IIRC Michigan fans were outraged when Urban signed and immediately went to work at flipping Big 10 verbals. Then the whole state went ballistic when Urban flipped Weber. But now, 'cause it's Hairball and Michigan, stealing from the conference is okey dokey.

I don't remember a ton of backlash from UM fans about flipping B10 Recuits. Hoke flipped a few himself. And I don't think he outrage was Urban going after a committed guy in Weber. It was the top player in the state being committed then flipping to our rival. I don't think that anyone was thinking that It was unfair that Urban came after him while he was committed, but fans were upset with Weber. Most people have the thought the best players from their respective state stay and play in-state.

Which would be fine with Ohio State fans. You can keep Weber, we'll take Woodson and keep Bo.
