ttun Shenanigans and Arguments (2015 official thread)

Davie definitely did a fine job of pushing Lou out the door, and the administration thought the change would be good. For Urban's part he certainly did his best with WR group though and started making a name for himself as a Spread guru at that time, based on the Gator book that came out around 2008.

https://books.google.com/books?id=tKTw_7H3cQAC&pg=PA79&lpg=PA79&dq=Urban's way lou holtz calls&source=bl&ots=Aftrv236MU&sig=ZjjWaKlXBJslutTDMRgf0fy31m4&hl=en&sa=X&ei=gWnnVPmaIIGyyATN-ILwBA&ved=0CC0Q6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=Urban's way lou holtz calls&f=false
Not saying the assistants didn't work hard, but there was never a sense of cohesion on that staff that I know of and there was certainly no one who was ready to go to bat for Davie when the rumors of firing him began.

11W article on Frank Clark

Here is the M man owning up to what he did (beat a small woman nearly half to death in front of children then threatened to do the same to female hotel employee)

"It could have all been avoided if I would have just said, 'No, I don't want to go to Sandusky.'"

"You can say, 'Well, I didn't do anything.' I can plead not guilty all I want. But at the end of the day when you look at domestic violence, you don't look at a 270-pound man, you don't go, 'Well did she hit him or did he hit her?' You don't look at it that way. Domestic violence you automatically assume the man had something to do with it. That's usually how our world goes. That's how our society is set up."

I find it funny how many teams Urban would have gone to if not for [insert excuses].

Penn State, Notre Dame and now Michigan. It's like Meyer is a catalyst for faded glory programs pining for the past.

If it was 1989 Urban Meyer would have coached our team, you can count on that!
He's just covering his bases for all the teams Braxton transfers to.

Best read of the day over on 11 Warriors...

Why not invite a coach who went off on a school in public? Have him come down to Columbus, see the facilities, meet with the current coaches that are going to be working with his two students.Remember, those two students are STILL at Cass Tech for three plus more months. This way, the coach has a personal knowledge of the coaching staff that is in contact with the signee and 1. will be less inclined to keep enforcing the "raw" deal idea, when he has likely met with Alford, Coombs, etc.and any animosity has been discussed and put behind. 2. having a working relationship with a coach at a known recruiting HS is a lot better than having a hostile, adversarial one , particularly when your rivals are just down the road and the coach is an alumni.

Besides, it's just a really classy thing to do.

Harbaugh is welcome to host all of college football's miscreants and annually suspended NFL players while he makes up recruiting posters of his selfies taken with them.

I would much rather see Urban and staff bringing in HS coaches from across the country as he prepares another team for a run at a National College Football Championship.

Harbaugh will be cherry picking players on his team that he thinks he can send to the NFL to impress his NFL peeps and bolster his next job prospect there. The other 82 players on his team, well, they'll just have to put up with his insanity until they earn their degree.

Are you interested in assisting with the managing of service and support functions for all daily football operations at the University of Michigan? That is the role the university is now looking to fulfill and you can apply for the job online right now.

Michigan is looking for a director of football operations, which will essentially be there to help Jim Harbaugh run the program with just about anything not related to forming the game plan. Some of the other duties listed for the job include assisting the recruiting coordinator with planning and coordination of recruiting efforts, track and keep order of high school transcripts for eligibility requirements, coordinating fall and summer camps and much more. So fire up your old NCAA 14 profiles and get them up to speed and feel free to send in some Twitch or YouTube video of your skills in action.

It may even be possible Michigan already has the job filled, but the university is required to list the job opening for legal purposes. If interested in the job, then you should hurry to get your cover letter and application on file. Tomorrow is the last day this job will be posted.

It's not like we BPers didn't begin to contemplate victory dances the second Urban was signed, but then the guy launched into a whirlwind recruiting campaign that gave us a base for some optimism and then had two 12 win seasons.

By contrast Hairball's recruiting plan relied upon a high school coach to get in a pissing contest with Urb, brought in nothing, and added some khaki pants to a bare cupboard. Maybe he's counting on signing some free agents before September.

PS, watch John Bacon on the BTN show about the '73 10 - 10 tie. $75 haircut on top of a Walmart mind.
