It's getting later in the cycle for this class. They are struggling to attract offensive skill position players (good luck selling upper end guys on the offense you are running this year), so I doubt this is a case of them having someone better in line.

Just looking at most of Hairball's classes, he never really signed many high end guys, and that goes for offense and defense. scUM has filled their rosters with guys who they fight teams like UK, Purdue, Nebraska and Texas Tech for. Sure there are some high end outliers, but that roster is not built to compete for titles, it's built to win September and October. And looking at this offense, Idk what WR or QB who would want to play in it. A 1970s style run game doesn't draw in the best offensive players. And having a QB who averages throwing the ball 6yds down the field, and forcing pass catchers to gain 90% of their yards after the catch isn't very enticing.

16 & 17 classes for Harbaugh were legit pretty good on paper at the time, though they didn't really pan out for the most part. Other than that yea though, from 18 until now hes only nabbed 8 total top 100 players. For comparisons sake Ohio State has landed 45 in the same time frame. I looked into it before somewhere around 40% of Michigan's recruits in this time frame ranked out at 500th+ nationally in the 247 composite.

Despite being a 3-star recruit, Trent was the 4th-highest rated prospect in scUM's class (88.58).

With Trent's decommitment, scUM's average per recruit drops to 88.08 on the 247 Composite.

Trent has already been CB'ed to Louisville by Wiltfong and Trieu.

When a mid 3* jumping ship actually DROPS your average player ranking. That should be a sign that the quality you claim is there, doesn't (For The DFBIA)

Gary, Bredeson and Peters are the outliers I talk about. Gary was only signed because of his former coach, but he and Devin Bush Jr are the only real successes in 2016. Though an argument can also be made for Bredeson who made the NFL in the 4th round. DPJ was from a scUM pipeline and also a legacy, so no real surprise, so another outlier. Solomon was a big get, but left after a year. 3star Kwity Paye is probably the best guy to finish in 2017. But most of the 2017 class transferred out. So not only are they not developing their best talent, but they're constantly losing talent to transfer.

On a sidenote: Amazon Prime has a older pretty good reality series called, Titletown, TX, and Chuck Filiaga was featured on it, It came out in 2017. I had honestly never even heard of the kid and didn't realize he went to scUM. From a small CA town and transferred to Aledo, TX outside of Dallas, TX in his senior season.

Exactly my point as to the caliber of programs that scUM has been recruiting against...

They have one guy inside the top 100 and his dad is making him go.

imagine how low their class rank would be without him

If they lost Will Johnson today, their points would go from 212.51 to 196.68, their class would drop from #16 to #26, sitting behind Indiana and just ahead of Georgia Tech

I used the class calculator, if you take away Johnson their class score is 196.68 on 16 guys which is lower than BC with 22 guys and IU with 14.

So take away the miracle, legacy 5 star and Jimmy is recruiting on par with Indiana.

You gotta give Harbaugh some big credit for still managing to work up zero enthusiasm with recruits with a 7-0 #6 in the rankings start to the season.
