We match up very well against TTUN defensively. If we can actually shoot the ball with any consistency I think we should win.

Bob Hunter CommentaryWhen Thad Matta described Ohio State?s annual men?s basketball games with Michigan as ?another Big Ten challenge? yesterday, I could swear I heard a ball cap rip and some accompanying curse words from points skyward.
With No. 2 Michigan in town for an afternoon game against the Buckeyes today, it sure seems like Matta could have done a little better. Couldn?t he accuse those $@!&%#! of turning off the heat in the locker room in Crisler Arena when the Buckeyes lost up there last year? Maybe he could blame them for stopping up the locker-room toilets, or poisoning the water, or something.
?We sometimes play two or three times a year,? he said. ?The Michigan-Ohio State rivalry really lends itself a lot more to the football side of things from what I?ve seen over time. ? We?ve had some great games, but I don?t think we?ve ever played them the last game of the year where you could hang on to it. It?s always on to the next team.?
Well, OK, he has a point. Even so, it sure doesn?t seem like Matta is getting into the spirit of this. Maybe he?s just too nice a guy to bring that grind-them-into-the-dirt football animosity over to the gym, but geez, a little paranoia sure would help.
OSU football coach Woody Hayes once saw a Michigan ?spy? in one of the windows at the Fawcett Center, stealing secrets (the Buckeyes planned to run the ball) from a room that had a distant view of the OSU practice field. So maybe what we need here is a Value City Arena custodian shooting secret videos of a Buckeyes practice on his iPhone and emailing it to those cheating $#@#$% in Ann Arbor.
Well, let?s be honest: Football or basketball, a rivalry doesn?t feel like much of a rivalry when there are bigger games on the schedule, and it?s been a while since Michigan has been the biggest Big Ten opponent on the Buckeyes? basketball schedule. The Wolverines have had pockets of success, but in recent years, Michigan State has been the biggest roadblock to OSU?s conference aspirations. Before that, Indiana was the big rivalry game.
Still, some of Matta?s players say they feel the rivalry vibes even if he doesn?t.
?It?s Ohio State-Michigan,? junior guard Aaron Craft said. ?I don?t care what sport it is ... it could be synchronized swimming. You always want to win that matchup. There?s always something a little extra that you feel before the game, and you know they?re going to come ready to play because they want to win just as bad as we do.?
