Transgendered decathlete (formerly known as Bruce) Caitlyn Jenner

I don't know who you play with, but I'd let someone hit from whichever tees he wants to. But if you hit from the ladies' tees and start drinking lite beer and put your hair into a pony tail and wear skirts that are 2 inches above your knees, I'm probably going to judge you based on those facts, rather than the fact that you just beat me by 12 strokes.

...he said "strokes"..../snicker

Still don't understand the "who cares?" comments. People care and to varying degrees, especially when they take time to comment on the subject.

Personally, I don't get it and that is perhaps a result of my ignorance on the subject. I don't understand why she's getting a sports courage award (except for, of course, the ratings). She hasn't been involved in sports for almost 40 years. Her relevance is due to her step-daughter parlaying a sex tape into a reality show.

I certainly hope this development doesn't lead to gender identity issues affecting sports classifications. Could you imagine if Caitlyn Jenner had competed in the 1976 heptathlon? That would be an absurd result.

Otherwise, good for her. Not my life. She's probably getting a lot of money out of this. I just don't see it as 'courageous' considering the financial benefit she's receiving. I assume there are many people out there with gender identity issues who don't have the money for surgeries and who won't get rewarded for coming out. So I'll save my applause and adulation for someone a bit more worthy and less suspicious.

Snarky comments aside, the best part of this entire story is that Jenner is willing to be the first face of the transgenders.

I hope that this whole story takes a little heat off of the teenagers who deal with this and I hope that their peers are more understanding because of what Jenner has dealt with.

For all of their faults, I have to admit that Millennials are the most accepting of people who have different lifestyles. I could give two shots about Bruce Jenner, I just hope that the young people have an easier time because of what he is doing.

Bolded for truthiness.

As to the second part, I was always kind of in favor of Chromosome testing for these kinds of things... at least as a starting point.. but I acknowledge the problems.

Additionally, I'd go with "previously competed as a male" to be kind of a red flag.

I don't agree. Caitlyn Jenner and the publicity she's receiving creates unrealistic expectations for young people with issues of gender identity. Most people cannot afford the kind of plastic surgery Jenner has received. She is a product of financial excess and the public obsession with celebrities.

Well, for most people this would be a deeply personal and private thing. But I guess if you need the money...

Glad I've got 300 other channels worth of garbage to watch. 'Merica fuck yeah!
No, for most people, this would be a deeply rooted mental instability issue. Not a "private" thing.

If I show up to work tomorrow dressed in a loin cloth and headdress, announce that I have always been Native American in my mind and that they now need to call me Chief Toad Fart, I would be given a really cool jacket with lots of buckles, a nice padded room and shit load of drugs to sedate me.

This guy puts on a dress, claims to be a woman and says people need to call him Caitlyn and he gets celebrated and given Lauren Hill's award.

He's a fucking lunatic. Not a chick.

I don't see why Caitlyn is getting a sports award for anything. I don't recall Caitlyn playing or winning any sports. Bruce was a hell of an athlete in his time. He could win an award if he existed, because he was the one competing. But Bruce doesn't exist. Caitlyn hasn't done shit but wake up as a woman. If she happens to join a female sports league and excel, THEN, she can win a SPORTS courage award. Maybe Micahel Jordan can have surgery to become a dog. Then everyone can talk about how the NBA was dominated by a dog. Because THAT'S how it happened, right? That dog was so courageous to join and dominate the NBA like he did. Except a dog didn't. Does every transgender get an award for things they didn't do as the person they currently are?
