Trading Kevin Garnett?!

A good friend of mine who happens to be an annoying New England homer laid that little gem on me, so I did some digging and found.....
Michael Olowokandi 's $6 million comes off the books in July. It looks as if the Celtics are positioning themselves to now trade Pierce for a foundation piece -- like say Kevin Garnett .
Now I know he can't get over the playoff hump, but trading Kevin Garnett? That's insane. For Paul Pierce? Why would you do this?

Honestly, I can't see this realistically happening. Garnett and Wally didn't get along in Minny - that's not going to change in chowder town. Pierce doesn't have near the same draw as Garnett either.

The only reason for such a trade would be that both Pierce and Garnett deserve better, but switching cities isn't going to change their bad luck when the talent around them is still razor thin.

I just can't buy into any trade involving KG right now. There's a lot of talk. But, at the end of the day, it doesn't make any sense.

That's such BS. McHale would never trade KG for a gun like Pierce.

Remember who you heard that from . N.E homers are full of beans.

Oh, and the Sox are going to trade Bronson Arroyo for Mark Prior.

I will agree that Minny may trade KG, but never for something as trivial as Paul Pierce.

Living in Minnesota and being a T-wolves fan I can tell u any trade involving KG better include Lebron and another player along with a first round pick. If not it will end the T-wolves in Minnesota. Since this wont happen KG will not be traded that is why I don't get all the talk about KG being traded. KG is by far the most popular athlete here in Minnesota and if he left the anger would be so severe no one would go to the T-wolves games any more.

Paul Pierce is not trivial. He is one of the best all-around players in the league. But you have proven my point that he doesn't have nearly the same draw because somehow he's not widely recognized as a superstar.

Agree to disagree, but compared to KG, Pierce is Trivial. No one but a chowderhead would mention a trade like that.

I wasn't bashing Pierce's ability (well, maybe just a little), but rather his abilities compared to KG's.

Career Stats: 23.2 pts/game, 6.6 reb/game, 3.8 ass/game, 1.74 steals/game.

This year, he's shooting almost 40% from the 3-point line and averages almost 8 boards a game with 25 points and 5 assists.

His game isn't as good as Garnett, Lebron, or even Dwayne Wade's. But it is one of the best all-around games in the league. I suggest you watch a few games. I get the New England sports channel with my cable package, so I've seen quite a few and I can tell that he is the only player on that team.

I think sometimes people confuse him with Antoine Walker because they played together for so long.

I don't count TMac because he's injured alot.

On your list Stad, I'm not sure I'd have Billups ahead of PP.

I would add Shawn Marion and Pau Gasol. Aside from those two, my list would be exactly like yours.

Phoenix is amazing with Nash, Stoudamire and Marion. Throw in the way Diaw has been playing and they're going to be great when AS gets back, even if it's next season.

I agree on Shawn Marion, but I just can't get over his ugly ass shot. So he's not on my list. I like how I spelled Pau "Paul". Ha!

Chauncey is what makes the best team in the league go. I'm not sure anyone on that Pistons team would be in my top 30 if they didn't play so well together. But Billups gets in the top 20 by default because he's the MVP of that team and possibly the best clutch shooter in the NBA right now.
