Va Tech played 10 true frosh yesterday, and even they were a little scared playing at home! What's going to happen to them in the shoe!? Their QB was accurate again W&M, our DBs are a little better. And our Dline will be a very big factor in the game, as I highly doubt that W&M was able to bring a consistent pass rush. And I certainly like our chances with guys like Grant, Apple, Bell, Powell, etc at DB against their young WRs. And the fact that the game is played in Ohio stadium with 100,000+ screaming S&G clad fans helps our cause in putting extra pressure on a young team and a QB with only 4mos in a new offense.

Their QB is new to the team but he isn't young. He started out at Texas Tech then transferred. He can be just as accurate against our defense if they play off the bubble screens and slants like they did last year. Its a quick release, short passing game. The kind that has given OSU fits in the past.

I agree the night game in the Shoe will give OSU a huge edge but their defensive players are bigger, faster and stronger than the Navy guys and will play a much more aggressive style under Bud Black. They will do their own things to extra pressure on our 9-10 new players only in the second start of many of their careers.

I think OSU wins but VT has kids on scholarship too.

Yes, I understand all that you stated. But the difference is, this isn't the past, and we don't have a DC that wants us to play off of defenders like in the past. Ash has stated numerous times and we've seen in camp that well play more man and press coverage.
They will definitely do everything to pressure our guys and that is reason for concern, as our Oline needs to get better, a lot better, in a weeks time.

And of course I know that VT has scholarship players as well, I've been to plenty of VT games, and have friends that have played for them as well. I'm not treating VT like their Little Sisters of the Poor, but I'm stating that they have an even you're team than ours, and a night game in the shoe will make an impact, especially since they said they had nerves playing at home!

Completely agree, the night game environment will be a shocker to their kids.

I think we will know a lot more about our team after this game. This is the first chance we'll get to see if Ash really does use press coverage to blow up the timing of one of these rhythm, shotgun passing attacks. Better yet if the players can do it well.

P.S. My bad above, the VT DC is Bud Foster. Bud Black was a MLB player and manager. Neither of which should be confused with Bud Fox or Air Bud

1.) Take him to Ohio Union, the Oval, Mirror Lake, Buckeye Grove
2.) They will not conflict. Skull Session is 2 hours before kickoff, QC happens right before the team goes into the locker room after warm ups.
3.) Usually people will be friendly to tailgating, but there's corporate versions of tailgating if you can't find someone (whatever Hineygate is now)
4.) You could go to BW3s on Lane and High to watch other games, but I'd also assume it will be crowded.

Jim Tressel lived in Upper Arlington (same place where I live) Lots of stuff to do around Lane Ave. You're from Missouri, so one thing you have to do on Friday night since you're in UA is either head down Lane Ave. to Graeter's or down to Grandview for Jeni's and get some of the best ice cream in the country. (warning Jeni's is more eclectic in its flavors as well as more expensive)

Carsonie's (Lane Ave.) is a good Italian joint, Rotolos (5th Ave.) makes some good pizza. Da Vinci's is a good little Italian food shop (used to be a full blown restaurant but they downscaled their operations after a death in the family), this may sound weird but the Giant Eagle Marketplace (local grocery store converted into a mega grocery store) has live shows in their dining area you may want to check out. Beer selection is quite good as well.

As I think of more, I'll post it, but this is some stuff local to where you'll be that you can do.

If you have time, you should also check out the Columbus zoo but that will require some planning/travel time as it's quite a distance from UA. Rated one of the best zoos in the country.

Just a thought..........if you take him to Graeter's, may I recommend a great flavor......."Buckeye Blast"! It's to die for.......just sayin'.

The more I watch WM vs VT the less impressed I am.

VT offense only managed to drive the field for a TD twice. Two other TD's came on short fields after WM turn overs with a lot of help from some poorly timed WM penalties.

I dunno, I think the two interior DT's may be a handful given what we saw from the interior OL in the Navy game but overall they aren't very impressive considering they were getting a battle from William and freakin Mary.

I will be interested to see what the early line is for this one.

I'd say OSU -10 ish?

Yeah I watched the game too and they didn't impress me either. 34 to 9 against a division 1aa team... mean while if we didn't get hosed on that TD call we win 34 to 10 against a very well coached Navy team that I wouldn't be surprised wins the rest of their games.

If we press their WRs and tackle we will do great and we will win easily. If we don't and tech breaks a few big gainers then I'll worry not only for this game but for the season. We can ill afford to need to score 27+ on this team
