Game Thread tOSU vs. Sparty, B1G Championship Game, Sat 8 ET on FOX

Almost most definitely going to be Bama first I would have to guess.
Bama automatically replaces Auburn in the Sugar, Clemson automatically replaces FSU in the Orange, Baylor auto bids to the Fiesta, Sparty and Stanford auto bid to the Rose. UCF gets in automatically and will be picked last in all likelihood.

That leaves 2 "selections" that don't already have 2 conference representatives. Making us, Oklahoma and possibly Oregon as candidates.

There's nothing automatic about who they will pick:

3. If a bowl loses a host team to the NCG, then such bowl shall select a replacement team from among the automatic-qualifying teams and the at-large teams before any other selections are made. If two bowls lose host teams to the NCG, each bowl will get a replacement pick before any other selections are made. In such case, the bowl losing the No. 1 team gets the first replacement pick, and the bowl losing the No. 2 team gets the second replacement pick. If the Rose Bowl loses both the Big Ten and Pac-12 champions to the NCG, it will receive two replacement picks.

A bowl choosing a replacement team may not select:

A. A team in the NCG, or

B. The host team for another BCS Bowl;

Further, when two bowls lose host teams, the bowl losing the No. 1 team may not select a replacement team from the same conference as the No. 2 team, unless the bowl losing the No. 2 team consents.

if the orange/sugar selects Clemson over Bama/Ohio State I'm going to laugh my ass off.
Orange gets to fill FSU's slot first since FSU is ranked #1, followed by the Sugar filling Auburn's slot. However, the Orange can't pick a team from the SEC without the Sugar's permission. The Sugar sure as hell won't give up Bama, so Orange will pick the second ACC team, Clemson.

edit: looks like you found the text of the selection process. That sums up why the projections are Clemson - Ohio State / Bama - OU / Baylor - UCF / MSU - Stanford in the Orange, Sugar, Fiesta and Rose respectively

I stand by my statement. I'm going to laugh my ass off if the Orange or Sugar picks Clemson before Ohio State.

I was concerned about the defense coming into this game, and while I am disappointed in their performance, I can't necessarily say that I'm surprised.

The offense though...I don't really know what to say. Miller and Hyde were great on the ground as usual, but what on Earth has happened to the passing game? It seems like ever since the 2nd bye week it has completely degenerated to the point of either throwing a 5 yarder or chuck and pray. The WRs have struggled with drops recently and haven't been able to make big catches, Miller is floating too many of his throws and the scheme overall seems to be wildly inconsistent. It just makes no sense to me. Why, when Miller and Hyde were having so much success rushing, was it so hard to take advantage of that and move the ball a little through the air?

This is a really tough loss. First postseason game in two years, first opportunity to really prove yourself against a top 10 team and shut people up and not only do the players look tight, but the staff seemed to be completely outcoached.

Not me. I won't be watching any highlights tonight or tomorrow....or for a long fucking while.

The only highlights I can think of are in Herbie's hair, and I won't be watching him or his jubilantly celebrating network in the foreseeable.

It was a long, record-setting run. Wish I could say we'd had time to forget what it feels like to lose one like this, but I know I remember the feeling all too well.

Urban inherited an imperfect product and many times in the last two seasons I've felt he was virtually willing them to win. That can only take you so far. Here's hoping for some off-season staff revisions, some stellar recruiting, and a strong new beginning next Fall.

Tough loss. Tough night.

There is no preparation for playing a good team, playing hard and losing. Could some things have been executed better? Absolutely. Were there drops? Yep.

In the end though, the effort was there all night until the very end. Mistakes were made. Gee golly willikers, they're human!

Going back to what I said a month or two ago - the impossible to reach standard of perfection being forced upon any group of 18-22 years but this football team in particular is both inhibiting and unfair.

The system that forces it is going away for the most part, but the idiots in the media will not.

Pumpkin the haters. They hate because they are afraid. There is no one coach, other than the most recent one, I would rather have at the helm of the ship. UFM will fix the issues.

Trust the Coaches and Go Bucks.

Sleep didn't help (maybe it was so little sleep). Have to get up and going early today.

Still disgusted by last night because I refuse to believe that MSU has more talent on D than Ohio State does. The last two weeks have been really tough to watch (along with the rest of the season) because the D never got any better. They regressed, in fact, as far as DB play goes.

And I hope that the message that Urban Meyer wanted to send was sent to Marcus Hall and Dontre Wilson. They were noticeably absent from the scene last night. Pat Elflein did an admirable job, but he was backing up Marcus all season for a reason. That double bird was costly for Marcus and that's a shame.

O went dead for long spurts. Too many holes on D and it finally cost us.

The National press seems to be doing a celebration dance over the loss. Pat Forde basically wrote a personal hate column, 2 years in pandora's box and happily released last night. . Wow.

I'll just read which bowl Monday morning but not expecting much. The backlash towards this team seems very real. A shame.

I posted way before the game that the whole CFB world, SEC, and sEcSPiN were rooting for the Buckeyes to go down. The scourge on the game has now been bested for the time being an they can all sit back and go see see we told you this team was undeserving. Have at it hacks and haters, I won't be watching or reading.

As a Buckeye fan, I am disappointed (which is down from extremely angry), but my disappointment isn't for me or any other fan, but for the players and coaches. I know how much they must have wanted this, the chance at history, a chance to silence the haters and to put the hurt of being left out last year behind.

There is still a major bowl win to be had and I will be ecstatic to see this group make the most of that opportunity, stand up and bounce back.

The more and more you look at it, the more mind blowing it really is of what Herman thought he was doing. After we go up 24-17 with 20 min left in the game, carlos hyde has.......wait for it......4 carries. And averaged 6.25 ypc. Yes. Seriously. That's real life.

Edit: he probably had more plays (hell maybe twice as many plays) where he was inexplicably spread out wide than he had actual rushes. It truly is hard to fathom what he was thinking.

I am supremely confident that we can steamroll any defense we play up and down the field in a bowl game.

Sadly, I have no confidence that Herman will call a game that allows them to do that after last night.
