Nailed it!
GPAAlright, folks. I'm going to sign off Twitter and call it a night.
I have to think JTB16 is our new starter. I will admit to being enthusiastic about that. But let me say this ... Cardale, like JTB16 and BM1, holds a legendary place in Ohio State history. His play in those three games was nothing short of astonishing, given the circumstances. I want to win. I want to win another title. Here's the thing though -- I want to see Cardale having fun again. I want to see that big smile and that swagger. JT Barrett and Cardale Jones are still an amazing duo, it's still a great problem to have -- even though the play has not been there. We can hypothesize about what ails the passing game -- I have every confidence that @alexhortdog95 has a suggestion, and he may well be right. Or maybe it's Cardale trying too hard, or maybe it's just growing pains and dysfunction -- who knows?
What I do know is Cardale is a National Champion. Not just a National Champion, but one of the few (like Zeke, like JTB, like a few others) who we can say, with reasonable fairness, without them we wouldn't have been national champions.
Cardale is now and forever will be a legend. It could well be that more of his legend will still be written, who knows. We can (and I don't speak for everyone) pull to see JTB16 start next week, but (and I think I do speak for everyone here) if we see CJ12 roll out, then we should want nothing more in the world than to see him play the way we KNOW he can -- if, that is, he's given a scheme that suits his tremendous abilities.
I worry now, after this game, more than any other point in the season about CJ's ego and confidence. I loved the "JT. JT, JT" chant, loved to see the offense respond to the spark he provided -- and behind all of that was an itch; how Cardale must feel with the stadium shaking as JTB16 continues to put up points. Points in the RZ opportunities before, points as the presumptive starter now.
I only have one child. But I think I start to understand the difficulty that must come with having two in situations wherein the success of one casts a difficult shadow over the other. Tough situation.
Let's take particular care to be, well, BPish about Cardale (and all our players) in these threads. I get frustrated like everyone else, and while it doesn't always work, remembering the magic that was the final run to the title last year tends to bring me right out of that. Quite a few of the guys on this team have earned our unwavering respect and appreciation, Cardale is certainly one of them. Kid is out there doing his best, maybe trying too hard. Want the best for him, even as I look forward to what should be a JTB16 start next week against Rutgers.
Gimmicky or not, that looks fucking awesome.
If an NFL team I cared about were to draft this stiff, I'd pack up and leave town. Never seen a more undeserved hype job, ever.It's been the same thing for 3 years running, the most NFL ready QB in college football absolutely cannot handle a pass rush.
When he feels the slightest bit of pressure he turtles up and just looks for the softest landing he can muster.
One of the big things for me leading up to this game was that it was the best proxy for scUM that we will see before The Game.
Now I think we know a little more;
PSU defense is just as good as scUM
PSU offense is better, especially at RB and QB(arguably)
scUM will play better/tougher because it's The Game and in AA
All in all if people are watching, the amount of "we're going to lose to scUM" hand wringing that peaked after they pummeled Northwestern should be dying down.
Barkley is a future All-American, but there's no way you can tell me that the pedsters have a better offense given that OL. TSUN has a much better OL and much better coaching. They're a much better team than the pedsters. Take Barkley and the DL away from the pedsters, and they're pretty much a MAC team.

That nickname is pretty out of place/line. These kids had nothing to do with what happened. None of the players, past or present afaik, did.
