tOSU vs Missouri, Goodyear Cotton Bowl, Friday Dec. 29, 8 ET on ESPN

Well, that was the most shit way to end a year. Knew a loss was somewhat likely. But the horrid coaching, mistakes, lack of effort and focus...that I cannot excuse. Not from the defense, but offense and special teams. If that's what Day can do with a pretty much full strength team after 1 month of prep...I have seen all I need to see.

I'll have more to say but that's all I should do right now until I have a cup of coffee next morning

Just one of the myriad issues destroying CFB. I've been pretty vocal about my issues with the direction CFB is going and how my interest is waning because of it. NIL and the portal are great for the kids, but it's turned the game into the wild west. Tell me how CFB is different from the NFL now?
Its different in that it's not even a good knock off.

I loved college football...

Then, ESPN tried to make it NFL lite..

So maybe this is right

But this game becomes the poster child for "here's this game we need to go win for no good reason and we might, for many reasons, not have all the dudes for that we are used to"

*And to be clear the part where we win 90+ pct of our games - these things don't come along often

For me, this is a. Interesting indictment on Day where it's all fucked up but scheme up a way to win. That he didn't is a problem... At least today (if it's a lesson to learn whatever
This is where I am.

Gameplan got thrown off and Day showed 0 ability or confidence. And the team was clueless. Scheme something. Adapt. Win.

3 points…that is just. I got nothing. Long offseason.

Yeah, it has definitely lost some of the magic over the last decade. I mean, 2014-2015 was fun, but I am not tuning in as much as I did in the 90s and 2000s.

I agree that it's a hit job (not because I read it, but because I trust you have - my bad, picnic table fucker) but, from the head line... and thinking about NIL... why should I pay for you to not play in your bowl.. ostensibly the game with the most visibility for my investment? (all to say, there is no ROI right now... it's kids cashing in on rich fanboys... hey, good for them.. the product? not so much)

Then it should be in the contract, right?

Put it in the contract or suck deez nuts is how I see it. If the contract doesn’t stipulate that he has to play in a bowl game, then the can fuck off!

But really, my gripe was more that they used MHJ as the example of this a week after Caleb Williams (among many, many others) sat out their bowls games.

It isn’t but the game was a cutthroat business LONG before NIL and the portal came along. Can’t blame the players for finally getting their chance to get theirs. Should‘ve thought about that before schools started giving coaches $100 million contracts and signing billion dollar tv deals.

That's the frustrating part. They didn't need to put up 30 when Kleinholz came in, but they didn't score at all. They barely got in FG range once.

I don't blame the players in any way. I blame the lack of foresight and the hasty implementation with zero real guidance. Change is inevitable, but all the things that made CFB amazing are going away.

That's the point. I agree, it's not Marv who should be the poster child for any of this. It's not fair to him... and... when they go to 12, next year, guess what.. less opt outs.
