Yeah I get that sense too... He seems to think all other D Coordinators are retarded when I read things he says. He's constantly saying "well we stacked the box on OSU and they couldn't match up and Alabama/Oregon/Wisconsin refused to stack the box"
The issue that Alabama/Oregon/Wisconsin faced that Bud isn't taking into account is we knew how to beat the Bear front the rest of the year and unlike the Hokies the teams I just mentioned did not have literally half a year to prepare a defense that we'd never seen before. I think Bud is a really good coordinator (maybe even the best) but until now I've never picked up on his conceited and cocky attitude. The reason teams didn't copy what you did Bud wasn't because they couldn't do it, it was because quite simply we would've went rough shod over them even more had they tried.
Nobody linked the interview so I can't say much on smugness.
But he's not entirely wrong -- while Wisconsin and Bama are overall better defenses, he does have a point: those teams didn't have the personnel VTech did to run that scheme. VTech didn't even have that personnel after us due to injuries.
They had studs on DLine (later injured) and studs in the secondary. Bama had the DLine and a talented secondary, but their secondary was too "big" to man up on an island and #4 was a liability all year -- indeed the Cardale>>Devin Smith connection burned him.
Wisconsin plays sound, but was clearly outmatched athletically -- moreover, playing in the West, they didn't have to face much in the aerial or spread departments. It's all 3yds and a cloud of dust over there.
Oregon doesn't play defense.
MSU might have been the only team that had the personnel, but they didn't go that route as I recall. Stuck to Narduzzi's base.
I don't think they'll have the same success, Ohio State saw bear front quite a bit afterwards - even if it was "inferior" copycat versions, has had time to scheme, and the team has just flat out improved too much.
But I don't think we'll be able to simply hand off to Eze in B and C gaps and lean on him to work magic. That D is setup to have guys at every interior gap -- you expose it by beating their corners. We weren't able to do that last year -- drops/limited playbook/inaccuracy all played a role. I expect it to happen this year even with 4 options missing. And when we do run, the OLine and backfield will have vengeance on their minds.
I expect at least one WR to have a coming out party... b/c Fuller might limit Thomas' production to 150yds 3 TD.
You will quickly find out why sports is the only thing keeping cable companies alive. make sure you buy a decent antenna. Can buy the leaf for about $20 now.
First row is an option. Quality is just poor. Can't see the ball, which gets confusing on the option plays. It's better than nothing. Have a good add block. For watch espn I just used my in laws cable account to sign in. That was never a problem. Could never get Btn. If all else fails and you can't get a game you want just head to a bar.
Use a VPN to sign up for international BTN -- it's $20/month or $15/24hrs. Then you get *everything* streaming. When I did it last year, I didn't need to be on the VPN when I was streaming, basically just to sign up.

I'm sure you can do this with a free proxy/vpn, but if you're a cord cutter, a VPN service is a great investment... on the higher (but better) end HMA is $80/yr. You can stream free channels from all sorts of outlets by routing through their country. I'm a fan of BBC and NHK.
