Game Thread tOSU @ Sparty, Nov 8th @ 8pm ET, ABC

The reality is that Sparty has had two weeks to prepare. They arecresyed and at home. Dantonio has every right to be confident. Cook also ripped the D apart last year.

I think this game comes down to big plays be Ohio State's defense. I also think that the offense will have a very good second half.

Good guys in a squeaker.

My outlook for this is purely dependent on which Coach Herman shows up in East Lansing. We go conservative, we lose. We ball out, we win.
It's not even about going conservative. I think conservative is a good strategy for Herman tonight. He has a QB that clearly underperforms in big games. It's happened twice now. The passing game is not going to be clicking on all cylinders and designing a game plan with anything else in mind would be bad coaching.

For Herman to be successful, it's about finding some semblance of a passing game to go along with the ground attack given that you know your QB is going to struggle. In my unprofessional opinion, the answer is getting Barrett out of the pocket and giving him some easy throws into the flats. I think some naked bootlegs would be a good way to do that while punishing an overly-aggressive-against-the-run Michigan State defense, keeping them off balance and opening things up a bit.

That's just me. It has to be something, though. Against Virginia Tech and Penn State it felt like Herman was horribly out coached by the opposing teams defensive coaching staff. Once was excusable as there was no way to predict how badly the receivers and QB (and OLine) would falter under pressure. The second time was a trend although it was still somewhat excusable as it was reasonable to assume that Barrett had made some progress in the games leading up to that. Now it is absolutely inexcusable not to have a game plan in place that recognizes the weaknesses that have been clearly established with the offense. Coming up with something that works given those weaknesses is what Herman is getting paid for.

If that something doesn't work we are in huge trouble. But it would be nice to at least see that the staff has something up their sleeve other than hoping the QB makes the right read on read option and an extra blocker helps make up for the horribly predictable play calling on QB draws.

Gameday bitches!
Hoping the staff has given the team a little history lesson regarding Sparty ...1974, 1998, last year. I think we're going to see an angry team tonite, and hope they come out on fire. It's going to take their best game of the year, but this team is more than capable of a win tonite. I love the role of underdogs.
Fuck Sparty ! Fuck Green!
LET'SGO BUCKS!!

Wow..........Seeing the phrase "I love the role of UNDERDOGS'' in referring to the Role of an Ohio State Football team, makes me wonder about that. I think back to the year 2003, in which I think we were the underdogs up against the Miami Hurricanes in the NCG game. Since then we have been quoted as the favorite team to beat in about 70% percent of our games................Yep, I agree here. I love the role of being an Underdog. "Go Bucks"
