College football recruiting: Where things stand with top 10 offensive tackles

Who are the elite offensive tackles to know in the 2026 recruiting class?

10. Brysten Martinez — LSU commit

9. Kevin Brown — Penn State commit

8. Bott Mulitalo — Uncommitted

7. Maxwell Riley — Ohio State commit

247Sports ranking: 4-star | 92 rating | No. 87 overall
High School: Avon Lake (Ohio)
Measurables: 6-5, 280
Notes: It was a two-team race for one of the top prospects in the Buckeye State. But four-star offensive tackle Maxwell Riley made his commitment decision Monday, picking Ohio State over Clemson — which is surging in the 2026 recruiting class and chipping away at the Buckeyes' territory. Ohio State managed to land Riley despite former offensive line coach Justin Frye leaving for the NFL.

6. Gabriel Osenda — Tennessee commit

5. Kodi Greene — Oregon commit

4. Immanuel Iheanacho — Uncommitted

3. Keenyi Pepe — Uncommitted

2. Felix Ojo — Uncommitted

247Sports ranking: 5-star | 98 rating | No. 7 overall
High School: Mansfield (Texas) Lake Ridge
Measurables: 6-6, 275
Notes: The official visit schedule is set for one of the top prospects in the Lone Star State with Michigan, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Texas all set to host five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo in the coming months. Although there are no 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions placed yet, Texas is the perceived front-runner in his recruitment as the Longhorns and head coach Steve Sarkisian aim to keep the elite lineman close to home.

1. Jackson Cantwell — Uncommitted

247Sports ranking: 5-star | 98 rating | No. 3 overall
High School: Nixa (Mo.)
Measurables: 6-7.5, 300
Notes: Nixa (Mo.) five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell recently released his top six schools: Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio State and Oregon. The 6-foot-7, 300-pound prospect is the consensus No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2026 class. Cantwell was among the top performers at the Under Armour All-America Game practices in January. Missouri has a strong connection to Cantwell as his father, Christian Cantwell, a former Olympic thrower who won silver in the shot put at the 2008 Beijing Games, attended college in Columbia.

Above true, the coach's time spent on the next hurdle toward Nati. However, betcha that Pantoni's Pantheon was getting the low-down on all that these kids were about, such as what their mothers fixed them for breakfast. So when the celebrations were over, those personnel folders were on their respective desks, ready to rock 'n roll. Surprised by the Ebert ghosting, but am certainly not looped in the inner workings of recruiting. Day has established a good foundation with the Ohio HS coaches, and several of the assistants as well (hopefully). And hopefully, it's as someone above opined, that these HS kids are lining their pockets with paid-for unofficials. Recollect the days when the Ohio State players were given cash to get to the Rose Bowl, allowing several to pile in a car for the drive to Pasadena, keeping some of the loot (all legal per NCAA regs). Maybe the 20th century iteration of those happenings?

If nothing in the recruiting yield loss equation changes, just loading up the top of the funnel will make a noticeable difference. If loading up the top of the funnel AND having a significantly greater volume of desirable recruits vying for limited spots is the net result, it will be a very noticeable difference as the staff should be in a much better position to pick who they want as opposed to years where they have had to reach to make numbers.

I very much appreciate the vigor that is being applied to the OL recruitment — and OL in general. I think that we all saw how critical the trenches are on both sides of the ball during this last run. I don’t believe for a second that Day isn’t / wasn’t aware of this. What I am curious about however, is what was the catalyst for the change. The ability to bring on additional coaches? Something with the new AD? Whatever it is, the direction seems right. I hope it pays dividends. I’m betting it will.

Guess we fanatics will see if the scatter gun approach works better than the rifled approach. Maybe the bigger the net, the better the catch? Running out of analogies here.....Will be curious to see how well tOSU transfers (out!) do with their new teams. Fleeing from the Buckeyes to ?, and starting/becoming all league with new team, might be an indicator of how well the OL program is run? Dunno, idle speculation, methinks. Of course, the writers all tout what tOSU has in the OL team room, with nothing negative said about them, but that's the nature of being an Ohio State beat writer. But something is keeping those guys off the field, am thinking.
