2025 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

And Buckeyes win championships. Looks like the TE room has some talent in waiting. Now to get that to show on the field. Didn't really appreciate Cade until he graduated. Hopefully these guys are excelling at blocking, as well as releasing into the flat to catch the football. Guess we'll see when they strap it up. Haven't read any articles on Thurman, or mention. Hopefully he's healthy, happy, and ready to rumble. Go Bucks!

Since we all know who is committed in the '25 class and much of the class is rounded out, I figured I would update my usual prediction list by putting down the names of the prospects I see finishing our class out. Decommits could of course factor in, but here is my best guess:

QB: Obviously we are done with TSC.
RB: I think we might be done there with Jackson and West, and Davison to Oregon. I'm comfortable with two RBs, but not sure what the staff thinks.
WR: My thought is we probably want 3 total at a minimum, so we might stop at Porter, Miller and Jones based on the realistic targets out there. Brown to Florida, Moore to Oregon, Boggs isn't coming back into the fold, and we faded hard on Ffrench. Given we have a stacked WR room and what I'm thinking is a limited NIL budget for the position this round, then unless there is a top guy that becomes available we might be done at the position.
TE: Roberts and Lennon, we're done at the position.
OL: Really big to close out strong here. I'm going against my better judgment and calling Sanders Jr. to OSU. Then we need one more IOL to add to Cook, so I am going with McFadden there. But we need at least 4, I am hoping we land those 2 because there is legit no other targets that we have a realistic chance on at the moment. Might have to make a move in the portal depending on how all that shakes out.
DL: I think we are wrapped up here and have an incredible DL class. Mathis, Merritt, Roy, Odom and Carter. Only potential addition would be Autry, but I don't see that happening. I am more than content with that class if everyone stays onboard.
LB: Pretty confident we are done there, especially considering Knowles usually only has 2 LBs on the field at a time. Pettijohn, Alford and Lee is a heck of a class, one of the better ones in recent memory really.
DB: We could very well be done with Sanchez, Offord, Delane, Haddad and Jones. We'll pursue McNutt, but I don't have any level of confidence there. Brew committed elsewhere, but I don't think the door is officially shut there. We've had some great DB classes in the past couple of years, so I would be more than happy with this class if it sticks.

Bottom line - If we land Sanders and another high quality IOL, plus keep the vast majority of our current commits, this should be the #1 class in the country and fulfill the primary needs after past classes.

Could be one of the more well-rounded classes in Buckeye history. Agree with what RB said. Really don't care if tOSU is #1 in recruiting, as long as Sanders joins the class, don't believe it could get much better. It oozes talent everywhere. OL and WR may be somewhat substandard, but the WR room has exceptional talent with 1-3 more years before the pros, so stacking more 5*'s up isn't a necessity. Next year, Brian can go get 'em, but we're set for now. The OL gets a big boost with Carter, and will be huge when Sanders joins, and believe that there are plenty of good-to-great IOL on roster now. Wish someone would do an indepth article, hopefully during fall practice, highlighting how well they're doing. Probably Day & Co won't allow, but hey, if wishes were ponies....Go Bucks!

While NIL has become an important part of the program’s short and long-term health, Day said collectives, endorsements and sponsorships should still take a backseat to a player’s desire to win games, conference titles and national championships. Ohio State’s top-ranked 2025 recruiting class has encouraged Day in that regard. He said none of the Buckeyes’ commits “lead with NIL” when discussing their futures in Columbus.

“That fires me up,” Day said. “It’s the fact that none of these guys lead with NIL. I mean, they’re not looking for that first. They want to be Ohio State Buckeyes. They’ve embraced the tradition and know how important it is to be a Buckeye. They want to win a national championship when they’re here.”

Just sayin': Great 11W article. I agree you have to sell THE Ohio State program first as you want recruits that actually want to be a "Buckeye"; but I have to believe that you still have to offer a competitive NIL deal to real in most recruits.

Script's list, looking at the numbers, oozes talent. Really don't know how a DB can be rated as #1 etc from one state/program etc over another from another part of the country. I get it, people watch camps, HS games, and all, but still mystifies me. Anyway, do enjoy looking at the positions above, and seeing #4 of ALL WR's, etc. And I get it, doesn't really count for much, maybe a 'mythical' recruiting championship, but will be proof in the pudding 2-3 or 4 years down the line on the field. Maybe I'm tunnel visioned, but when I see a #94 ranked WR being recruited by Hartline, I nod slowly to myself and say, Brian's going to work his magic on this guy, and turn him into another first rounder....so, he sees something of a huge potential in this kid. Just add the secret sauce and watch him grow. Also know it take a tad more than that, and there are many other factors not in the coaches control, but hey, it's college football, and nothing is guaranteed. Only five weeks to go, yippee! Go Bucks!

https://n.rivals.com/news/fact-or-fiction-ohio-state-will-hold-onto-the-no-1-class

1. Ohio State will hold onto the No. 1 class in the country through signing day.

Smith: FACT. The Buckeyes have paced the 2025 cycle for a while now after Notre Dame got off to a hot start. They have consistently added top-flight talent to the 2025 class and have even had players move up the rankings.
There are only a couple players that are in danger of flipping away from the program right now. But the group could suffer a loss or two and still hold on to the top spot. Ohio State is currently outpacing the total points (3,202) that last year’s No. 1 team, Georgia, had (3,156) in the 2024 cycle. If LSU pulls off a few flips it can make things really interesting but the Buckeyes have too much firepower in the class. It’s a deep group led by the No. 1 player, Tavien St. Clair, and a bevy of big-time defensive backs.
Levenson: FACT. I almost said fiction here because LSU, Alabama and Georgia will continue their trends of landing elite talent throughout this cycle. But it's Ohio State and I'd be silly to act like they won't do the same. Now, in the world of recruiting, come November and December, there will surely be flips that completely throw off what we see now in the rankings, but odds are Ohio State will be involved with some of those higher-profile players anyway. So I am going to ride with the Buckeyes given their current lead and say they can fend off those who are somewhat nipping at their heels at this time.

Been ringing this bell for a minute. I freaking love this LB class!

Match them with the CJ Hicks class and hoo hoo that is a bad mamma jamma of a roster.
And more recently in the '24 class Payton Pierce (just had his black stripe removed) and Garrett Stover. Then Reese in '23 who Knowles has been raving about. Should have plenty of talent and depth moving forward, especially when you consider we typically only have 2 LBs on the field at a time

And having two 5*s fighting it out for the SAM LB spot cannot be all bad. Spreading the PT around is a good thing, and different game situations can/will call for different talents from the LBs. Passing situations, probably Sonny. Third and medium, Hicks rushing the QB. It's all good. Just a stupid question. Would Knowles substitute LBs, or would Laurainitis? Quick decisions are needed, run on the field and all that, but just a thought that niggled the back of my brain. Go Bucks!

It seems as if the football world is now in the 'flip zone'. Everyone has who they have, take a step back, and visualize what is needed to round out the recruiting class/needs. Then see how many scheckels remain in the NIL bag, and push them all in, on someone they need/want. And maybe hold out some in case a kid says, XXX has offered me more $, what do you want to do about it? I'd probably say, you go for it kid, and don't let the door hit you in the a**. Since we don't 'know' what's going on, is DuBose really considering a switch? Or ? Hard to forecast, at least by someone on the Left Coast, who is nowhere in the know....Go Bucks!
