2024 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

DONOVAN HARBOUR PLANS TO ATTEND NOTRE DAME GAME

Four-star Wisconsin offensive lineman Donovan Harbour told Eleven Warriors he plans to be at the Buckeyes’ season opener against Notre Dame on Sept. 3. Harbour was offered by Ohio State on May 30, and the 6-foot-5, 310-pound lineman currently holds 17 Division I offers.

“(Coach Frye and I have) a good relationship,” Harbour told Eleven Warriors. “Although I haven’t talked to coach Frye in a while because I’ve been so busy.”

I know that we're still on the '23 class, and there's slim chance that we could flip All American S, Caleb Downs. But another kid in GA, but in the '24 class is every bit as good if not better, KJ Bolden:

He has an OSU offer and is of relation to Coach Perry Eliano.
OSU already has a major leg up here, considering Bolden is the cousin of Eliano. That aside, the five-star safety visited Columbus this spring and was impressed by his experience.

I think Downs could be forgotten about if we land Bolden

Bryce West is a 177 lbs., 5'11" CB at Glenville HS in Cleveland, OH. He already has 2 Crystal Balls for Ohio State.

After watching Bryce's interview posted above by pnuts34 I get the feeling he's all Buckeye. We in NE Ohio are so blessed to have great h.s.coaches like Ted Ginn Sr.in football and Dru Joyce Sr. in basketball that turn out quality young men every year that fill us with pride.

Not sure about the credibility here but Kirk Barton says West is a 5 star and is the next Ted Ginn.

THE HURRY-UP: NOTES ON OHIO STATE TARGETS’ CONVERSATIONS WITH BUCKEYE COACHES AS DIRECT COMMUNICATION WITH 2024 RECRUITS BEGINS

Ohio State coaches and class of 2024 recruits alike kept their phones close all day Thursday.

Sept. 1 is a massive day on the recruiting calendar for prospects in their junior year of high school and the Buckeyes were certainly active Thursday in reaching out to their coveted targets.

Thursday is the first day college coaches are allowed to directly reach out to high school prospects in the recruiting class of 2024 via text message, calls and email. Some prospects had their phones flooded right at midnight, and others have consistently received text messages throughout the day.

Eleven Warriors reached out to various recruits about whether or not they’ve been contacted by the Buckeyes, and collected notes regarding more than a dozen 2024 prospects Ohio State reached out to Thursday.
  • Five-star safety Peyton Woodyard told Eleven Warriors Ryan Day was one of the first coaches to contact him at midnight and said he can't wait to host him and his family for their visit this weekend. He said he and Day talk weekly already, but it meant a lot to him that day was one of the first to talk to him at midnight.
  • Four-star defensive end KingJoseph Edwards said Larry Johnson reached out to him and that the pair have been close since last season. Since Edwards is visiting this weekend, he said he looked forward to seeing him soon.
  • Five-star defensive end Eddrick Houston said Larry Johnson, Nick Murphy and Miguel Patrick have all reached out. All three told him they're excited to communicate more frequently since they can reach out directly now and build a stronger relationship. Houston will also be at the game Saturday and said he's “looking to see what they have to offer.”
  • Five-star safety KJ Bolden is also one of OSU’s premier targets the Buckeyes have reached out to. Since he’s visiting for the Notre Dame game, most of the conversation was centered around his visit.
  • Four-star cornerback Miles Lockhart said he was touched that both Ryan Day and Tim Walton reached out Thursday considering they had just FaceTimed with him on Sunday. Brent Zdebski also reached out to Lockhart on Thursday.

Gorney’s take: FICTION. When it comes to
Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State is the front-runner right now and there was talk that he was seriously considering a commitment but decided to hold off. The Buckeyes should feel great there. As for
JoJo Trader, that’s a lot more unclear. The new five-star said this week that Miami holds the edge in his recruitment and I have no reason to question that. If the Hurricanes put together a strong season that that gap between them and other teams could widen. There are many reasons why Ohio State should like its positioning with Smith and Trader but when it comes to the latter, I wouldn’t say the Buckeyes should “love” where they stand just yet.

Birmingham’s take: FACT. There is certainly confidence in Columbus as it pertains to Ohio State’s standing for five star wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and JoJo Trader, though things are a little less optimistic when it comes to Trader. While both are expected at Ohio State this weekend it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Trader stayed back in Florida and Smith made the trip solo. Ohio State has prioritized both players for more than a year, but questions about whether or not Trader prefers the idea of playing defense have arisen. Bottom line? If JoJo Trader wants to play wide receiver, there’s a very good chance that both he and Jeremiah Smith headline Brian Hartline‘s next haul of pass catchers.
The crazy thing is, OSU could lose Trader and not miss a beat in the WR class. Smith, Graham, Denmark and Hudson would still be the best WR class in 2024.
And in the perfect scenario, they land Trader and Smith, and then choose between Graham, Denmark and Hudson

2024 LB, Sammy Brown from GA.
He will be an extremely hard pull from UGA(or the SEC in general), but he’s the real deal. He’s, IMO what many thought Tacket Curtis would be: a hard nosed, lunch pail LB, who hits like a Mack truck, is athletic enough to fly sideline to sideline, and make us all think of Laurintis and Hawk.
