2024 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

So I had not looked at On3's site before on their rankings, but just did since they have gained some traction in the recruiting game and I always think it is interesting to compare site ratings. Currently here are where our commits/serious targets in the top 300 or 4* ratings stand on their rankings:

1. Jeremiah Smith 5*
8. KJ Bolden 5* (11% picks for OSU)
10. Dylan Stewart 5* (52% of picks for OSU)
12. Justin Scott 5*
16. Mylan Graham 5*

21. Eddrick Houston 5* (88% picks for OSU)
38. Jordan Seaton 4* (87% picks for OSU, surprising because I don't even have him on my radar)

40. Air Noland 4*
42. Aaron Scott 4* (96% picks for OSU, most confidence I have seen on him really)
50. Bryce West 4*
87. James Peoples 4*

91. McClellan 4* (91% picks for OSU)
140. Ian Moore 4*
151. Garrett Stover 4*

211. Booker Pickett 4* (29% picks for OSU)
231. Peyton Pierce 4*
285. Max Leblanc 4*
313. Jaylen McClain 4*
335. Miles Lockhart 4*
349. Demarion Witten 4*

Armstrongs, Nave and SWD are all 3*. We are ranked #2 in team rankings.

Armstrongs yes, Nave I would have at 3* until watching his senior film.
Agreed. I want to see how Nave's body matures during and after his season season. He also needs better footwork to be OSU level on the OL. Project for sure. But more on the spectrum of Jacoby Boren or Dawand Jones as opposed to a project like Grant Toutant

You’re hearing one side. I highly doubt a coaching staff is going to boot one of their most talented players for being a model citizen or because of his school choices.

I'm sure. To have them called out in such a way is worrisome though. Maybe something got misconstrued and hopefully the actual truth comes out.

Sadly nothing would surprise me in this world of recruiting.

Same concerns I have on Nave, I don't think he's currently an OSU caliber OL but could get there by improving on body development and footwork like you said. Lots to like, but certainly has gaps in his game currently.

Armstrongs are low 4* to me currently, but absolutely OSU caliber imo and simply need to put some weight on to their ideal frames for the position. Crazy athleticism from both and played VERY well at the highest level. I watched state finals and they both kept catching my eye, and I kept wondering why is OSU not pursuing them? Then learned they were juniors and was hoping we would go for them. I could see a meteoric rise for both this season, they're going to dominate. On that note, I don't see how anyone will come close to Eds this season in Ohio.

The way they were called out (dad Facebook blast)…to me…is more worrisome. It’s not what adults do.

Uh....unfortunately, yes it is. It has happened on Twitter more than once, I'm certain it will again too. Whether or not it's accurate or not in this case is the issue.

There's something there though. You don't cost yourself your senior year of football over nothing. I think it's an issue of severity - was the kid being overly sensitive or did the assistant coaches go to far?

I choose neither
