2024 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

"Hairball" seems to mine the portal pretty well. What he is doing flies in the opposite direction of what Day & co are doing. He's picking up many a player, all now proven and pretty good, and letting his current players twist in the wind. Maybe that's why so many are xferring? Roebuck could be the next (forgot his name - from Cleveland way) that commited to tOSU, decommited, and then bashed tOSU every chance he could from Ann Arbor (that slut). And went 0-4 for his career. Believe I'm not the first to say that tOSU needs this win over Xichigan this year, but let me add my thoughts anyway. Go Bucks! PS, like Josh Pate, and he's predicting 'serious talks' at tOSU if it goes three in a row.
Won't deny that Hairball is handling the portal pretty well, but I don't think Roebuck even had an offer from us? His teammates that did committed (Armstrong twins), but I don't think he had the choice to pick OSU. And frankly I'm not very impressed by Roebuck and neither was the staff apparently, so scUM can believe they had a "win" there if they want, but it's a facade. We do need to pound them into the ground on the field though next year. No doubt there.

My understanding is that right now there are three guys that just need to go public to make things official (actually four but the last one won’t be until the spring game weekend). Doubt it’ll be long for any of the three but then again we were also expecting some news last Tuesday or Wednesday that has yet to happen…..so I guess we’ll see.

I predict we'll have to take 4-5 WRs in 2024... because there is fire behind the smoke about how good Tate is... and when Inniss hits campus, rest of Zone 6 will be in panic mode... we're going to lose a number of outstanding WRs to the portal... but it'll be restocked with the finest WRs in 2024 again...

It will be extremely difficult to keep Tate, Inniss and Jeremiah from taking over the starting 3... they're that good.. and I fear the stars in Zone 6 will see it too.. Tate will be in the starting lineup before season end... Inniss will be pressing hard for the slot starter... and Jeremiah has the biggest upside of all

Going to be a roller coaster this year with the portal... but ironically we'll be even better than we are right now when it settles... embarrassment of riches is an understatement

Agree that tOSU is starting to have 'traction' in recruiting. Hopefully it continues, especially in positions of need. Also agree that several positions will be squeezed after spring ball this year. Guess it's a symptom of what happens when one recruits at a high level for several years. Also believe that some of these early games should showcase the #2's and #3's in the third and fourth quarters, in order to ascertain the talent coming up and giving the kids a taste of what's to come. Day & Co seem to have different opinions, so there's that. Knowles wants the starters to play, but hey, that'll encourage the non-players to look elsewhere faster. Also am thinking that the era of three-four year starters is over, and if you get two years of starting that's about it. I'd bet someone has a grid that shows how many Buckeyes didn't finish their eligibility before going pro, versus those that did. Clearly don't know what goes on inside the Woody behind closed doors, but hopefully, each and every transferee is treated well. In the old days, believe Woody (and other coaches?) would assist players find another football home. With the portal, probably not so much. Anyway, it's a good time to be a Buckeye, and hopefully we show those suckas up north who's the king of the B10 this year.

Just sayin': Great receivers definitely make the QB's job easier and improves his stats thus ultimately making him a higher NFL draft pick, etc. I would think more top tier QBs would be lined up for a scholarship at Ohio State. However, maybe Day is just more selective and wants a QB to have certain specifics (i.e. skills, abilities, potential, and character) that fit the program here.
