Heck, remember 'back in the day', when Dan Galbreath used to hire tOSU players to work at Darby Dan Stables. Met him once, but was never invited into the inner sanctum. Kinda sorta an early version of NIL, as the players did minimal work for decent pay. There's been a version of NIL for years, and has been perfected by the SEC. Two years ago, a player was benched because was treated to an 'impermissible meal' - whether it was at a white tablecloth restaurant or a Chili place. Now, that has become an added perq to tuition, room & board, books, and spending money. Plus coaching to take them to the NFL level. Not everyone will/be able to share equally, as the 'star' positions (QB, WR etc) will be given the lions share (for name recognition), and the obscure ones (OL, DL, LB etc) won't. Some sort of 'profit' sharing has got to occur, as what QB could get off their passes w/o the OL holding the DL away from him. Not sure how it's going to play out, what with the transfer portal is going to be full of players that will not only look to grab a NCAA championship ring, but who is going to 'pay' them the most, I've read the rumors of the Texas teams telling the coach they've got that next great CB in their pocket, but not certain that all of these teams won't follow the same blueprint. My crystal ball is a bit foggy, so can't see what the future holds, but from where I sit, there has been an epiphany shift, and I'm not entirely certain it's for the best. Sorry for the rant, but the above (and other) missives pulled this out of me. Maybe I'm too old fashioned/old school. Go Bucks!
